SUNDAY RECAP | GOVERN YOUR ENVIRONMENT
What a powerful Sunday at Calvary Gateway International!
The presence of God was tangible during worship. The fire of God was present at the altar, and many were encouraged, shifted, prayed over, and strengthened in His presence. We believe God is still liberating His people, breaking chains, shifting atmospheres, and reminding us that what surrounds us does not have to determine what happens within us.
Apostle Josephus Willis II brought a powerful word titled “Govern Your Environment”, reminding us that we have a responsibility to steward and shape the environments God has entrusted to us.
Drawing from Acts 16, Psalm 24:1-6, and Psalm 22:3 we were reminded of Paul and Silas, who found themselves chained in a prison but refused to allow their circumstances to govern their praise.
They praised God while they were still in chains.
And when they praised, the environment shifted.
The chains fell. The doors opened. And not only were Paul and Silas liberated, the other prisoners experienced freedom as well.
What God does in you can shift what happens around you.
Apostle reminded us that we are not called to simply adapt to every environment we enter. We are called to govern, shift, move, and shake because of the presence of God within us.
We learned:
Govern your environment. To govern is to rule, administer, command, direct, and manage. God has given us responsibility for the atmosphere we cultivate.
Don’t bow because the music changed. Like the Hebrew boys, we must stand on what God said regardless of the culture or pressure around us.
Your environment matters. The Garden of Eden was designed for Adam and Eve to walk, talk, and commune with God. We should desire environments where God can speak, lead, and reveal what is really happening.
Deal with the weeds. When an environment is not governed, things begin to grow that God never planted. We must discern whether an atmosphere is conducive to God or to the enemy.
Prayer adjusts the environment. Like David at Ziklag, when everything around him was falling apart, he sought God before making his next move. God gave him direction to pursue and recover all.
Jesus changes the environment. The woman with the issue of blood broke through cultural restrictions because she understood that the right environment for healing was wherever Jesus was.
Worship before you leave the house. We were challenged to establish an atmosphere of praise and worship every day, not just at church, but in our homes.
And perhaps the declaration that captured the heart of the message:
“I am a shifter because of the presence of God in me.”
We don’t have to wait for our circumstances to change before we praise. We don’t have to bow because the environment around us changed. We can stand on what God said, seek the Lord, trust His faithfulness, and allow His presence in us to shift the atmosphere around us.
The same God who broke chains in Acts 16 is still liberating His people today.
You are a shifter.
You are a mover.
You are a shaker.
You carry the presence of God.
Govern your environment.
Let’s take this word beyond Sunday and into our homes, workplaces, relationships, and everyday lives. May our environments become places where God can speak, move, heal, restore, and reveal what He is doing next.
Trust the Lord. Do good. Remember His faithfulness. And shift the environment.
