A collect for Trinity Sunday. Today we marvel at the God who spoke light and life into existence, who formed us in the divine image and crowned us with glory and honor. The whole of creation bears witness to the Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, whose love and grace are woven into every corner of the cosmos. Jesus sends us out into that same creation with a great commission: to make disciples, to baptize, to teach, and to trust that he is with us always, to the end of the age. - Designed by Summerlee Walter, the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina

Great local news—but if you come to Emmanuel from west of the river, stay alert for possible detours Sunday.
The home is being moved this Sunday morning starting around 7 am. During some of the move, parts of Western Avenue and the. Memorial Rotary will be closed. You may want to look into taking the downtown Cushnoc Bridge, the Highway 3 bridge or the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge in Randolph/Gardiner to get over the Kennebec.

A historic Augusta home that is over 125 years old is being moved down the street this weekend to keep it from being demolished.

Sylvia Lund was a major leader and beloved parishioner for many, many years at the old St. Mark’s. Many of you drive past her old home on your way to and from Emmanuel every Sunday, a few blocks north of Eastern Avenue. The Viles Arboretum in Augusta is also named in honor of her family.

I think it's fascinating to learn about buildings that are now gone that once graced Augusta. Today we're talking about 65 Stone Street, next to the Viles Estate. In the early 1960s John and Sylvia Viles Lund built a spacious modern home that stands on the site of the famous "Twelve Trees", said to have been built in 1848 by Governor Joseph Williams, son of Reuel Williams.

In 1905 Charles P. Kling acquired the property. He remodeled and repaired it extensively and furnished it with rare and beautiful furniture. He was a very wealthy man who also maintained homes in Newport, RI and abroad. He married Mary Clark Culver, daughter of Senator William A. Clark who was the wealthiest man in American at the time. Charles and Mary had one son who died at age five years old.

Charles died in 1934 and his obituary mentions that he was a cousin the the late Florence Kling Harding, widow of President Harding. Charles had left the chimes to St. Marks Episcopal Church in memory of his mother, Ellen Kling. His will stipulated that his residence on Stone Street be torn down and the contents sold because having lost his son he did not wish anyone else to enjoy it.

His estate was administered by the late William Treby Johnson.

Thank you to Kennebec Historical Society for providing us with this rendering of "Twelve Trees".

How will you love one another today?

“Prayer was never meant to be magic.”
“Then why bother with it?”
“ Because it's an act of love.”

Wear RED tomorrow. ❤️❤️❤️

Before the flames.
Before the preaching.
Before the crowds.
There was waiting.
Prayerful waiting.
Hopeful waiting.
Faithful waiting together.
On this Vigil of Pentecost, may we make room for the Spirit to surprise us again—
with wisdom,
with courage,
with joy,
and with the power to love our neighbors more deeply.
Come, Holy Spirit.
