Psalm 64 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

They hold fast to their evil purpose; they talk of laying snares secretly, thinking, “Who can see them?” Psalm 64:5 – David as he writes dwells on the reality that there were many who wanted him gone. This group we’ll call his enemies plotted in secret ways to destroy and take David out. David even describes a quality of his enemies’ evil plotting, they were steadfast in it. They didn’t let a speedbump or two keep them from their aim of destroying David. They didn’t let a pushback, difficultly, or struggle keep them from their purpose, they remained holding fast to their goal of taking David down. With then such a steadfast group of enemies, what could David do? He could hold fast even more so to His God than his enemies were holding fast to their evil purpose. The goal of David’s enemies and our enemy is to keep us from holding fast to the Lord for from the Lord comes all strength, joy, peace, and rest. All we need and more to live this life passionately for the Lord comes from a holding fast to the Lord. So…hold fast. Don’t be worried when you hear you have an enemy holding fast to his evil purposes for you. Let him hold fast, for as we see in this psalm our God can destroy the one seeking to destroy us and the result is the world pondering on all that God can do. How amazing is our God, so hold fast to Him always. I love you, but Jesus loves you more - Mac - Daily DEVO 3477

Question To Ponder: Why would our enemy care so much to keep us from holing fast to the Lord?

Psalm 63 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1 – From the notation prior to the start of this psalm, this was either written during, or at least looking back on, David’s time on the run in the wilderness. David was in a season of heaviness, of loneliness, of physical and spiritual need. Maybe that’s exactly where you are at currently too. Maybe the season you are in is overwhelmingly heavy to the point that you don’t know how you can keep standing anymore. Maybe the season you are in has fostered a sense of deep loneliness, that no one is with you and no one could understand. Maybe your body is feeling the strain and so is your spirit. David was here too, and in that spot David took the pathway I’m going to encourage you to take. Remember that God is your God. This amazing God who is able to handle things we can’t handle, who will never leave us, and who can meet our every need is not just the God of scripture or the God of other people. He’s your God too. Earnestly seek Him out in this season of dry and weariness. Seek Him out as if you were in a desert and knew He was the only source of water. For Jesus will be all you need. This life has a way of crushing us under its weight and struggles, but God has shown Himself true to be with us in all of it. Turn to Him and keep turning to Him for in Him you will discover what you need. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac - Daily DEVO 3476

Question To Ponder: When was the last time you were truly thirsty? How did it feel to have it quenched?

Psalm 62 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God, and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a man according to his work. Psalm 62:11-12 – Throughout his years the psalm writer David had many encounters with the Lord. He had seen the Lord move repeatedly in his life and had first-hand seen the Lord bring victory time and time again. After these many encounters with the Lord, David pens in this psalm two wonderful truths about His God. That all power and all steadfast love belonged to the Lord. That God was powerful and that God was loving. One commentator put it this way, “This is the only truly worthy representation of God. Power without love is brutality, and love without power is weakness. Power is the strong foundation of love, and love is the beauty and the crown of power.” How marvelous that to our God belongs all power and all love. Through David’s life with God this is what he had learned God to be. How about you? If you’ve been a follower of Jesus for any length of time, what have you come to know about God in that time with Him? Has He proven Himself trustworthy? Has He shown up for you when you needed Him? Has He been willing to accept you despite your sin? However the Lord has revealed parts of his character to you, be willing to share that with others as David did here in this Psalm. Help others, who may not have had the same amount of time with the Lord as you have, know God like you have come to know Him. For we have an enemy seeking to deceive the world on who the Lord truly is, be a force for the Lord speaking the truth against such lies so the world can know that all power, love, mercy, and grace belongs to our God. I love you, but Jesus loves you more - Mac - Daily DEVO 3475

Question To Ponder: What is a lie that the enemy seeks the world to believe about Jesus?
