Salvation Through Trust

Thus did Noah according to all that God commanded him ...
Genesis 6:22

One day God spoke to Noah about the wickedness of the human race. The actions of men and women grieved Him to the heart. God said that He intended to send a flood that would destroy mankind, and He told Noah to build an ark to save his household and the animals. The Bible says that Noah believed God. Now Noah had never seen a flood. He had never seen a 40-day rain. He had no weather map, no satellite photograph or meteorologist to tell him that a big storm was coming. All he had to go on was the Word of God. But when the flood came, Noah was spared and saved with his family, and the rest of the generation was swept away. Noah was saved because he put his trust in God. The days of Noah are returning to earth, and a catastrophe as great as the flood awaits those who refuse to enter into the ark of salvation, which is Jesus Christ.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you—Psalm 56:3

Most of us men struggle not with the fact that we’re designed for adventure. On some level, we can accept that. No, we tend to struggle rather with what, exactly, we’re willing to call “adventure.” We like to define, on our own terms, what is adventure and what is not.

The word itself conjures images of climbing mountains, or jumping from airplanes, or backpacking deep into the backcountry. And these are adventures, sure. But . . . what about when God calls us to confess to our Christian brothers something embarrassing to our pride (James 5:16)? What about when God calls us to risk a friendship by engaging in a tough conversation (Ephesians 4:15)? What about when God calls us to take a risk with our careers or our finances (Matthew 19:21)? What about when God simply calls us to serve others in a way that makes us uncomfortable (Matthew 25:40)? Are these less worthy of the title, adventure? No, of course, not. And, truly, aren’t these things more likely the adventures for which God designed us? Don’t they align much better with Scripture than does . . . skydiving?

The problem is that we tend to mistakenly view God’s adventures as unwanted interruptions, unpleasant hindrances, or unnecessary risks to the safe lives we’ve worked hard to create for ourselves and our families . . . rather than the mythic things that they are. And so we miss the great days, the great moments, and the great stories that God so wants to share . . . that he dreamt of, so long ago (Ephesians 1:3-6, 2:10).

Okay, so what do we do?

Begin to reorient. When confronted by interruptions, hindrances, or opportunities for risk, take a few seconds to ask yourself, might these have been intentionally placed in my way by a loving Father God?

What Is Wisdom?
By Megan J. Conner

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” - Prov. 9:10 (NIV)

The Bible is full of references to the concept of wisdom. We are exhorted throughout the Word to seek wisdom, to employ it when making decisions, to represent it through our interactions with others, and to prayerfully request an increase of it in our lives. There are entire books in the Bible dedicated to the value of wisdom (Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, to name a few). With all of these references to wisdom in the Word, it is clear the Lord is trying to teach us something, but what? What does wisdom really mean for us in our modern, everyday lives?
When we look up the definition of wisdom in the dictionary or a biblical concordance, we can see descriptions such as having good sense or judgment, the ability to discern inner qualities, teachings stemming from ancient knowledge, shrewdness, or prudence. Based on these definitions, true wisdom is more than intellect or knowledge. It is much deeper. It extends far beyond our human limitations, which is why we must look to the supernatural as our source of impartation and increase.
I don’t know about you, but I struggle with the idea of possessing and successfully employing wisdom in everyday life. Our lives move at such a fast pace, and whether real or projected, it feels like our choices must be instantaneous rather than carefully considered. Even if I am able to carve out space for thoughtful deliberation, it seems like I rely much more readily on my ever-present, very forward emotions rather than sage discernment when making decisions. Perhaps you struggle with this as well. How then can we attempt to gain and prioritize wisdom?
Our key scripture today states, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding” (Prov. 9:10, NIV). Any search we embark on to gain wisdom must begin with the fear of the Lord. Fear in this passage isn’t being afraid. Rather, it is a sincere reverence and respect for our Creator God. It is an acknowledgment that He is the Alpha and the Omega, beginning and the end (Rev. 22:13); that all things were created by Him and without Him nothing was made (John 1:3). HE is the answer. HE is the source. If we desire to gain greater insight and understanding, we must depend heavily on the Lord. We must look to Him first.
This all sounds great, but how can we practically apply this to our lives? By intentionally asking the Lord to grant and increase our wisdom. Proverbs 4:7 says, “Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment,” (NLT). If the smartest thing we can do to gain wisdom is to simply ask for it, then that is the best place to start. The Word promises that if we ask, we shall receive and if we seek, we shall find (Matt. 7:7).
The next time you are uncertain of what decision to make or how to proceed forward in an unpredictable scenario, stop and pray. Ask the Lord to grant you His wisdom. Create space for those whispers of the Holy Spirit, and God will provide. He is faithful to do all He has promised.
Intersecting Faith & Life:
How have you viewed the concept of wisdom in the Word of God? Have you seen it as treasured and valuable? Or do you struggle to believe you can possess such a quality?
As shared earlier, I have wrestled with possessing and employing wisdom. However, I fully believe in the truth of God’s Word. If He tells us to seek wisdom and ask for it, then that is exactly what we should do.
Understanding this, I started praying for wisdom every morning several years ago. My prayer is simple, nothing fancy. But when I recite this daily prayer, I sense a connection to the Word and God’s desire for me to grow in my faith. It is a small act of obedience that I believe has drawn me closer and more dependent upon the Lord.
If you feel led, please join me in this petition today:
“Heavenly Father, would you grant my family and me wisdom today? Help us to be present in the natural world, but live and work with Your supernatural wisdom that is beyond this world. Amen.”

May fresh grace be upon you as this beautiful day begins!
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness…”
2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV

In times of chaos, planning, constant changing hats between ministry, family, friend, etc.; the endless task list and awareness of a much needed time to rest, it’s easy to get distracted from the sufficiency of Grace. As the Apostle was reviewing his struggles, he was reminded of God’s Grace! Not as a replacement, but rather an enduring support. A supernatural empowerment to do what can’t be done naturally.

Today, my His all sufficient Grace be your cover, may your awareness of His presence be extra special! No matter the task, no matter the challenges, and no matter the situation; may His Grace cover and strengthen you today in all things!

You are loved, you are safe and you are deeply cared for!

Believing in and praying for you!

John 14:23,24 - “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.”

Here is how we prove our love for Jesus. Do I keep His words or not? Love is not a feeling, it is a choice I make, an action I take. It may grow, it may diminish. Aligning my life according to His word and ceasing to follow my own understanding reveals my love for Him. It reveals I am trying, I am applying, I am growing in my love for Jesus every time I keep His word. Will I ever not keep His word? Of course. We all make regrettable choices. Being love is a choice and and action, to turn from my regrettable choices I choose to turn away from the wrong and follow after Jesus. I once again renew my love for Him. I purpose to not turn away the next time. And an amazing thing happens; as we read Saturday, Peter denied Jesus three times, remembered Jesus’ prediction, and wept into repentance, Jesus came a few days later and told Peter to feed His lambs. Three times He told that to Peter. Jesus was not only driving away the doubts Peter was feeling, Jesus was affirming His love to Him and that Peter’s ministry was not over. Jesus loved Peter, and Peter spent the remainder of his life showing Jesus his love for Him. You can too!

1Samuel 17:38-58. I encourage you to read this passage again before reading the following comments.

This is the all familiar story of David and Goliath. Large against small, strong against weak, well trained versus un-trained, as far as military warfare is concerned. And we know the story well. Here is a consideration to encourage you to be a David when God calls upon you to face a giant whatever. 1Corinthians 1:27-29. God chooses “…the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29 that no flesh should glory in His presence.” This is Goliath verses David AND Goliath loses, flat out dead! This last verse: “that no flesh should glory in His presence,” now that is who God is looking for, a man/woman who will do what seems to be a crazy idea, an awful idea, except that God says to do it this way. And God turns the world upside down when we do it. Be that person; grab your sling and go.

Invest Your Talents

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above ...
James 1:17

God, in His mercy and goodness, has endowed every man with certain gifts, talents, and capabilities. These are not to be used selfishly for our own profit, but for the glory of God and for the building of His kingdom. Our personalities, our intelligence, and our capabilities are gifts from His own bountiful hand. If we divert their use for our own profit, we become guilty of selfishness.

It is good business for an employee or junior partner in the firm to work for the profit and interest and glory of the owner. When the owner profits, all members of the firm profit. So, as stewards of our talents, we should invest them for the glory, praise, and honor of God. If God is glorified, we as His partners will be blessed. Our voices, our service, and our abilities are to be employed, primarily, for the glory of God.

Prayer for the day

Everything I have, You have given me, Father. Now give me wisdom to use these gifts completely in Your will.

Guiding Our Prayer Lives
By Michael A. Youssef, Ph.D.

Have you ever noticed that when you are ready to pray, the phone rings or somebody knocks on your door? How often is your prayer time disturbed by things on your to-do list, with daydreams, or with sleepiness?
Prayer is the most important thing we can do as believers. Through prayer, we communicate with our heavenly Father. We also learn more about Him when we pray. We grow in our faith through prayer. When we pray, we find the encouragement, the strength, and the power we need to face life. In fact, Jesus made it clear that we either pray or we will spiritually faint. In the midst of the confusion and chaos of the world, even in the end times, Jesus calls us to always pray and not give up praying (see Luke 18:1).
Satan, however, seeks to interfere with the sacred intimacy of prayer. He did not want Adam and Eve to communicate with God in the Garden of Eden, nor does Satan want us to communicate with God. Rather, he seeks to find ways of making us spiritually weak. He knows that prayer is our vital source of power and strength.
When you receive good news or something wonderful happens in your life, do you immediately thank the Lord? Many of us pray only when we are facing a problem. We cry out to the Lord in our pain, but we often fail to praise Him in times of joy. This is when we realize that we have not made prayer part of our daily lives.
Prayer is not to inform, to persuade, to manipulate, or to cajole God. It is the evidence of our love, surrender, obedience, and sincerity before God. He wants to commune with us. When you understand prayer is joyous, intimate fellowship with the Lord, you will want to make prayer a consistent part of your life.
Prayer: Lord, please forgive me for neglecting prayer and time with You. Thank You for blessing me with an intimate relationship with You. Help me never to neglect my time with You. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer” (Romans 12:12).

May 26, 2026 - Pastor Britt

Good morning friends.
Today’s devotional is an excerpt from the book, The Screwtape Letters. A bit of explanation is helpful if you are not familiar with this story. It is an imaginary dialogue between a “senior” demon and a “junior” demon. The senior, Screwtape, is mentoring the junior on how to influence and affect Christians in such a way as they fall away from God without realizing their downfall. Sneaky, huh? The “enemy” Screwtape refers to is Almighty God; remember, Screwtape is a demon, so yes, God is the enemy of demons. The “patient” Screwtape refers to is the Christian the junior demon has been assigned to. The insights are amazing and realistic.

Screwtape examines the virtue of Humility:

“Your patient has become humble; have you drawn his attention to the fact? All virtues are less formidable to us once the man is aware that he has them, but this is specially true of humility. Catch him at the moment when he is really poor in spirit and smuggle into his mind the gratifying reflection, ‘By Jove, I’m being humble’, and almost immediately pride- pride at his own humility- will appear. If he awakes to the danger and tries to smother this new form of pride, make him proud of his attempt- and so on, through as many stages as you please. But don’t try this too long, for fear you awake his sense of humor and proportion, in which case he will merely laugh at you and go to bed. But there are other profitable ways of fixing his attention on the virtue of Humility. By this virtue, as by all the others, our Enemy wants to turn the man’s attention away from self to Him, and to the man’s neighbors. All the abjection and self-hatred are designed, in the long run, solely for this end; unless they attain this end they do us little harm; and they may even do us good if they keep the man concerned with himself, and, above all, if self-contempt can be made the starting point for contempt of other selves, and thus for gloom, cynicism, and cruelty.”

Wow; even that which is good (humility) can become corrupted - by our pride. Just because we are good at something does not mean we are good at it. It means God has enabled, God has taken a weak vessel and made it strong for His glory. Don’t let pride corrupt what God has done. Beware even subtle influences. Be blessed my friends, and be a blessing.
