How do you define nouthetic counseling?

Adams's own classic, brief definition: confrontation out of concern for change.

My definition, based upon an exegetical/lexical study of the word: The noutheteo/nouthesia word group emphasizes instructive communication focused on warning the mind in order to ward off straying from Christ and to remain stayed on Christ.

My alliterated definition based upon an exegetical/lexical study: Nouthetic ministry is cautionary, caring, charis (grace-soaked), Christ-saturated, cognitive, contextual-instruction focused on Christlikeness.

My very brief definition based upon an exegetical/lexical study: Nouthetic ministry is cautionary instruction.
