It is with deep joy and gratitude that we present the 2026 Holy Trinity Service Award to Bill Walsh, given in recognition of his extraordinary commitment and faithful service to Christ through this community.

We could not have known what a gift it would be when Bill and Josie arrived in Auburn in 1989 and made Holy Trinity their church home. A cradle Episcopalian, Bill was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Episcopal Church in Columbia, South Carolina. It seems only fitting that, upon arriving in Auburn, Bill would seek out a place like Holy Trinity—and even more fitting that he would help shape it for decades to come.

For 37 years, Bill has served this parish with remarkable dedication. He has been elected to the Vestry twice and served as Senior Warden in both 1997 and 2007. He co-chaired, alongside Drew Clark, our first major capital campaign—Building to Proclaim—which made possible the nave we worship in today.

Bill’s greatest passion has been outreach—work that helped lay the foundation for what we now know as Relational Mission. He traveled to Haiti to support our mission partners there, and both he and Josie have faithfully served as ushers and as delegates to Diocesan Convention. Bill completed the EfM program and continues to engage deeply in the life of this parish—from adult Bible study to Wise & Wonderful gatherings, from parish suppers to even studying Old English in the Parish Commons.

But beyond the titles and the accomplishments, what defines Bill’s legacy is his presence. Through seasons of joy and sorrow, he has been a steady and gracious witness—offering encouragement, kindness, and a ready smile to all. He has given generously of his time, talent, and treasure, helping to shape Holy Trinity into the loving community we cherish today.

Bill, your humility, devotion, and faithfulness have been a blessing to this parish in more ways than we can count. It is a true honor and privilege to present you with the 2026 Holy Trinity Service Award. Please know that Holy Trinity is deeply grateful for you and for all the good you have done in Christ’s name.

The Magi spent the night with the Lewis family. They enjoyed dinner in downtown Auburn with McKinley and Millie, sharing good food and lively conversation. Back at home, the celebration continued as they helped Millie mark her birthday with cupcakes and smiles. It was a joyful evening of feasting, gratitude, and celebration along the way.

An Epiphany Reflection: When the Light Is Revealed

The journey of Las Posadas does not end when the Wise Men arrive at the manger. It ends when the meaning of the journey is finally revealed.

Epiphany is that moment of recognition—when we realize that God has been present all along. The child in the manger is not only for Mary and Joseph. The light of the star is not only for shepherds or kings. It shines for all people, across borders and cultures, through ordinary homes and everyday lives.

Throughout this journey, the holy story unfolded not just in Bethlehem, but in living rooms and kitchens, by Christmas trees and bedside lamps. It was carried through laughter and music, games and stories, tired evenings and quiet rest. Each welcome, each shared moment, became part of the revelation.

The Magi remind us that faith is often a long road. Sometimes the way is clear, guided by bright light. Other times the path is hidden by clouds or fog. Yet again and again, the light appears—not always in the sky, but through hospitality, kindness, patience, and love.

Epiphany teaches us that God is revealed not only at the destination, but along the way. Christ is made known in shared meals, in children teaching adults how to wonder, in neighbors opening their doors, and in hearts willing to make room.

As this season draws to a close, we do not leave the story behind. We carry it with us. We remember that we are both travelers and hosts—sometimes seeking the light, sometimes reflecting it for others.

May we notice the star when it appears.
May we trust the journey when it feels long.
And may we always be ready to welcome Christ,
again and again,
wherever love makes room.
Amen.

The Three Kings spent their final overnight stay with the Israel family. That evening, Anna gave them a special concert on her shiny horn. The rich, gentle notes filled the house, rising and falling like a blessing carried on the air. The Wise Men listened closely, grateful for such beautiful music along the road.

They enjoyed the concert very much—but as the last notes faded, their hearts stirred with anticipation. Their long journey was nearly complete. Soon, they would arrive at their destination. And so they rested that night in peaceful hope, knowing the star would soon lead them the rest of the way.

Las Posadas has become a cherished Holy Trinity tradition. This novenario—an extended devotional observance—commemorates Mary and Joseph’s journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of shelter, as well as the Wise Men’s journey to the Nativity.

Each evening during the season, parishioners host the Holy Couple or the Magi in their homes. While they visit, families take photos of their guests participating in everyday activities. The next day, they continue their journey to the next home, ultimately arriving in the Holy Trinity nave—the Holy Couple arrive on Christmas Eve; The Magi arrive on Epiphany.

The Three Kings spent New Year’s Day with the Bradshaw family, sharing a traditional feast of black-eyed peas, collard greens, and cornbread—food meant to bring good luck and hope for the year ahead. As they ate, they reflected on all that 2025 had held and looked forward with eager hearts to what 2026 might bring.

Not everyone was quite ready for a photo, though—Magnolia politely declined to join in. 😅 The Wise Men understood. Even on a holy journey, a little independence is always welcome.

With full bellies and hopeful spirits, they rested once more, ready to continue the road ahead.
