St. Luke's UCC, Auburn NY

St. Luke's UCC, Auburn NY Worship 10 am
Nursery and Sunday School during Worship. All are invited. Founded over 136 years ago, St. St. Lucas or St. Throughout St. Today St.

Lucas, as it was first known, opened it's doors to the people of Auburn. It was a Protestant German Reform Church with a membership of German immigrants. Luke was one of the disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ and he was a physician. He is remembered as a person who loved and cared for the poor and the sick, who wanted the doors to God's Kingdom opened to all, who respected and valued women , and w

ho saw hope in God's grace and mercy for everyone. Luke was the inspiration for this Church where people of all walks of life are treated as equals and important in the eyes of God and humanity. It's early membership was mostly hard working and close-knit German families. The Holy Spirit brought together a fellowship which enjoyed serving their Lord and Savior and living according to God's Word as found in the Bible. Luke's history the congregation reached out to the community to help and care for anyone and everyone. They frequently rallied to other Churches when disaster struck, they worshipped side by side with Churches and Synagogues. They helped organize the national American Way Party, an annual Fellowship of Christians and Jews, which lobbied President Roosevelt against Hi**er. Luke's German membership knew very well what it meant to be "suspect" having lived with prejudice and people's suspicions during WW1. Luke's is following the Holy Spirit's lead still and is a very busy congregation. In the 1950s the German Reform denominations and other Protestant denominations joined together and formed the United Church of Christ. We support the UCC with its work and mission in our world today. We have our own Christian responsibilities as well. Our groups, clubs, and committees all have special missions that they support in the world and the community. We want to continue St. Luke's tradition of caring for God's creation and reaching out to all those in need and in need of knowing God. Luke's is a family of caring and loving people who welcome with open arms, hearts, and souls all who would join with us in celebrating God's Love as given us through Jesus Christ. We have fun together in worship, Bible Study, and in all else we do. We gather every week in joyful worship as one big open family of God's children. We want to be a place where people can flourish while seeking God in their lives. We try to reach out to all who need the helping hand of our Savior. We follow the UCC motto to be a United and Uniting Church. We invite you to walk with us and God's Holy Spirit as we endeavor to be the family Christ would have us be.
