The two great pictures of eternity given in the Scriptures, the restored Garden and the beautiful City, are brought together as one in Revelation's triumphant vision.
(Revelation 22:1-2) Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life.
The Garden in the midst of the City is where God dwells with His people, who themselves were planted in the ground and came forth as beautiful flowers.

Jesus wants us to see death and resurrection, His death and resurrection, in every dried see that is cast into the ground, brining forth new life as a green plant. Christ rose from His grave as a triumphant plant comes from the ground, the first fruits of them who have fallen asleep. We will one day be planted in the ground and will rise up to a blessed garden in His presence forever.

Jesus is both the gardener and the plant. The same Jesus who casts the seed into the world, also describes Himself as the Vine to which all of His beloved are connected drawing life from His root and His branch.
