Today was the busiest food pantry and clothes closet day of 2026 with 94 households seeking the good news of God's loving presence through groceries, clothes, prayer, and a hot meal. We're grateful for everyone who serves, prays, and gives so that God can bring this special community to life every week.

We give thanks for the resources provided through U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in partnership with ARCH that have allowed us to share the good news of safe, stable housing with over 20 homeless families in Lee County since Good News Rapid Re-Housing started last fall. This announcement means we get to continue this sacred work for another 12 months!

🙌 We give thanks for a week of sharing good news!

🍎 Our Loachapoka Elementary team provided a delicious lunch to show our appreciation for the teachers and staff at LES!

🔨 Our construction team built a 16' wheelchair ramp for an individual in the Gold Hill community who had to crawl up and down their steps 3 times a week for dialysis treatments.

📕We celebrate with our friend, Brian Goldstone, for being awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Non-Fiction this week for his book *There Is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America.* We were honored to host Brian in January for a community-wide conversation on this important book.

🌪 Last but not least: our own Director of Mission & Outreach, Joe Davis, led his first UMCOR ERT training class at First UMC Dothan and is now a certified UMCOR trainer! Be on the lookout for more ERT classes coming soon.

We are so grateful for a community committed to being the good news of Jesus Christ!

A wonderful story of Auburn United Methodist Church serving with Alabama Rural Ministry a few Saturdays ago for our Serve as One at Auburn UMC day of service!

This is a wonderful account of "Serve as One Day" from Alabama Rural Ministry and Auburn UMC.

“I just love these people,” exclaimed Neighbor Gloria. Serving Together As One points to and represents Jesus. All called to foot washing wherever and whenever we can, this is what living in Jesus’ kingdom and following his commands looks like.
A beautiful spring day and one week after Easter, it was the perfect Saturday. With toolboxes and power tools in hand, neighbors took to the streets for a day of serving and building community.

At the end of the day, Ms. Gloria’s home was prepped to have concrete block installed. This will fully secure her home and keep all the critters out from underneath. Blocks of wood were secured between joists creating bracing for weak spots in the subfloor. Portions of her roof were sealed keeping water from running between her porch roof and mobile home roof.

Meanwhile, another group served Neighbor Oscar. Casey and Jordan worked with Harrison, our construction leader, and completed installation of trim after new planking was installed. Oscar’s original floor was buckling and had metal pieces protruding from it making it unsafe to walk upon, especially without shoes. Mr. Oscar has medical treatments he attends and no longer concerning himself with his unsafe the floor is a huge relief.

Groups shared prayers, talked with each other about Jesus, and reflected the model of Easter people. The day ended with a peaceful beauty as Christ’s love and grace were shared and spread. We are grateful to all who came and served in our community.
