Some overly religious people become so consumed with rules, appearances, and moral superiority that they forget the very thing faith is supposed to strengthen: humanity. They memorize scriptures but cannot recognize pain standing right in front of them. They know how to judge, shame, and correct others, yet struggle to offer empathy, accountability, or emotional safety.

Emotional intelligence requires curiosity, compassion, self-awareness, and the ability to sit with complexity. But when someone believes they already possess every answer because of religion alone, growth often stops. Faith without empathy becomes performance. Morality without kindness becomes cruelty disguised as righteousness. And that combination can leave deep emotional scars on everyone around them.
