Sometimes God’s mercy sounds quieter than we expect.

Elijah had seen fire fall from heaven, but at his lowest and darkest moment, God didn’t crush him with power. He met him with gentleness. He came near, got on Elijah’s level, and reminded him that the biggest move isn’t always the most obvious move.

That’s good news for anyone who feels worn down, empty, or overwhelmed. God knows how to meet His people with exactly what they need — not always with thunder, but sometimes with a whisper.

Come be reminded of His grace with us at New Hope.

Elijah had just seen God move in power — and still found himself running in fear.

That’s how quickly victory can give way to exhaustion. One moment, faith feels strong. The next, you’re worn down, overwhelmed, and wondering how you got so low.

But God didn’t abandon Elijah in the wilderness. He met him there. He cared for him, led him, and gently drew him back to Himself.

And that’s good news for us: when our strength runs out, God is not finished with us. He still meets His people with mercy.

Come hear the good news with us at New Hope.

This past Sunday, guest preacher Jason Young helped us see how grumbling often reveals something deeper in the heart. It’s not just frustration. It’s a posture that struggles to understand grace.

In Exodus, the people grumbled. In the Gospels, the religious leaders grumbled. And in both places, God was revealing the same truth: we can miss His goodness when we think grace should operate on our terms.

But Jesus doesn’t give grace to the deserving. He gives grace to sinners. He moves toward the broken, the needy, and the undeserving — and that is good news for all of us.

Come hear the good news with us at New Hope.

This past Sunday, we were grateful to hear from guest preacher Jason Young, Community Engagement Representative at Denton Freedom House.

When the religious leaders grumbled against Jesus, it revealed something deeper: they struggled to rejoice when grace reached people they thought were undeserving. But that’s the beauty of the gospel — Jesus moves toward sinners with mercy we could never earn. Grace can be hard to celebrate when we forget how much we need it too. In Christ, none of us stand on our own goodness. We all come by mercy.

Come hear the good news with us at New Hope.
