🔥 One of the most dangerous mindsets a person can develop is a victim mentality.
Now, before someone misunderstands me, there are real victims in this world. People experience abuse, betrayal, trauma, injustice, and painful circumstances that were not their fault.
But healing begins when we stop allowing what happened to us to define who we are.
I know this firsthand. For years, I had enough trauma, addiction, rejection, and dysfunction in my past to justify staying stuck. I could have spent the rest of my life blaming my wounds, the system, other people, and my circumstances.
Instead, I had to make a choice.
Would I see myself as a victim of my past, or would I become an overcomer through Christ?
The enemy loves when people embrace a victim identity because it keeps them focused on what was done to them instead of what God wants to do through them. Victim mentality produces excuses, blame, bitterness, and helplessness.
But God’s Word calls us something entirely different.
“No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” (Romans 8:37 NLT)
Strong men and women don’t play the victim. Mature believers take responsibility for their healing, renew their minds, and keep moving forward even when life has been unfair.
You may not be responsible for what happened to you, but you are responsible for what you do next.
You are not a victim.
You are an overcomer.
You are a survivor.
You are a WARRIOR!
And through Christ, you are more than a conqueror.
