- is to join together to honor and praise God by meeting the needs of others through sharing the power of Christ in our lives and encouraging development of spiritual maturity by bonding in Christian love.

If God is introducing Himself to the world through these plagues, then it does not surprise me one bit to be learning of God’s salvation in the story as well. For to learn of God is to learn of His salvation because God’s salvation originates from who He is. The birthplace of the salvation we receive in Jesus Christ our Lord is found in the heart and nature of Yahweh, the One True God. We are saved because of who God is, not because of who we are. We are actually saved despite who we are because of how mighty, strong, and good God is. Last week we learned in order to be saved by, worship, and follow God, one must humble themselves in full surrender to Him. This week we see how serving the One True God also requires full surrender, specifically, all of us and all of what God gives us belongs to Him. We are to leave nothing behind in an attempt to keep anything for ourselves. It is interesting to read in Exodus 10:8-26 and see clearly the irony: Pharaoh who believes God's people belong to him is trying to hold on to them with all his prideful might, and God is commanding His people to take everything they own and hold nothing back in worship and service to Him alone. The earth is the Lord’s and all that is inside of it as well. Who was to go worship YAHWEH and what were they to bring with them? “Not a hoof shall be left behind”. Every animal was to be taken, as well as every child. “We will go with our young and our old. We will go with our sons and daughters and with our flocks and herds.” Come let us worship and bow down before the One True God. Come let us serve Him only! Bring your sons, your daughters, your young and old. Bring with you everything God has blessed you with, hold nothing back from Him. Let us honor Him with everything we own.

The hail that pounded the land and anything standing on it left Egypt desolate. The testimony of our God is that not everything was destroyed. “The flax and the barley were struck down, for the barley was in the ear and the flax was in bud. But the wheat and the emmer were not struck down, for they are late in coming up? Exodus 9:31-32. The hard heart of Pharaoh has brought this entire nation to this point of desolation and if for one second Pharaoh was thinking, at least I have the late crops to rely on so it is not that bad, not so fast. Pharaoh is learning very quickly, every single thing he could rely on in his disobedience will be the property of God. Even the plants not destroyed by the hail are in the hands of God. Nothing Pharaoh had gained actually belonged to him, every bit of it belonged to the God of the nation he was enslaving, and this same God was demanding Pharaoh surrender to him and let his people go. We are now at plague number 8, at this point so much has passed that it brings about the most obvious question to Pharaoh’s mind, “How long will you refuse?” God asks this question at the beginning of the interaction but surprisingly the servants of Pharaoh say the same thing after Moses and Aaron have come and gone. Why does God bless us with the opportunity to surrender to Him when we deserve instant and total destruction? The amazing grace of our Lord is on full display every second we live and every breath we breathe.

Welcome To Worship for Sunday August 30, 2026
I look forward to discussing this with you further!

God has blessed us with the privilege of observing the Lord’s Supper and baptism on the same Sunday. The Lord’s Supper as a part of our 5th Sunday schedule, and Baptism as a result of the Holy Spirit’s work unto salvation in the lives of the lost. Both of these sacraments belong to our Lord and they are for His purposes alone. Through them, we proclaim the realities of our salvation, purchased and provided for us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord. The sacraments have not been given to one individual alone, but to the church, which is the gathering of those who have put their faith in Christ and are made his disciple. We do them together as a church because of the design of God. We spend this morning in a deep and thorough investigation into both Baptism and Communion, where they come from, what they are, what we believe about them. As we do, my prayer for you is that the Holy Spirit would move and guide you to the cross of Jesus Christ. He is the door, the only way unto salvation. He is the Good Shepherd who is willing to lay his life down for the sheep. When trouble came and threatened our lives, indeed when we were all dead in our trespasses, the Good Shepherd did not run and flee like the false, hired hands, He came down from His eternal glory and took on the death you and I deserved, only to rise again on the third day securing for those who believe in Him by faith an eternal salvation. Praise His glorious name!

I look forward to discussing this with you further!

The seventh plague brings with it perhaps the most important question and discussion in the entire Scriptures. So important is this discussion in fact that Paul quotes this text when, while being carried along by the Holy Spirit, he lays out the details of God’s sovereign work in the salvation of sinful men and women. Pharaoh’s heart was hardened; this is clear and obvious. A hard heart for Pharaoh was exactly what Pharaoh wanted and it was exactly what God wanted. God’s plan was using Pharaoh’s hard heart to accomplish the task of having “His name be proclaimed in all the earth.” Here is the valuable question and discussion. Even with a hard heart and unsaved heart, Pharaoh at one point in time was able to utter these words, “I have sinned, the Lord is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong.” How can this be? What did these words mean in the grand scheme of things? Paul says only God can pierce through the stubborn, hard, dead heart of man and only when God has truly pierced through this heart is someone made a child of God. The words that come out of our mouth must match the reality in our heart for it to be true salvation. Brothers and Sisters in Christ, this is not meant to be frightening or threatening because today is the day of salvation. It is such a blessing that our salvation is in the hands of God alone because it means it is real, secure, and everlasting. Stop battling God and pray that He will pierce your heart right now. Come let us all bow down before our God and plead with him this morning. Let us beg for Him to do in our hearts what only He can do.
