Tomorrow marks 1st Muharram 1448 AH, which is the official start of the Islamic New Year.

✨ Welcome to the Islamic New Year | 1448 AH ✨

Tomorrow marks the 1st of Muharram, the beginning of a new year in the Hijri calendar. Unlike conventional new year celebrations, the Islamic calendar doesn't begin with a celebration of a victory or a birth, it begins with the Hijrah.

In 622 CE, the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his companions made the ultimate sacrifice, leaving their homes, wealth, and lives behind in Makkah to seek religious freedom and establish peace in Madinah.

When the Second Caliph, Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA), established the calendar years later, he chose this migration as the definitive starting point because it symbolized the birth of a unified community built on justice, faith, and renewal.

Muharram is also one of the four sacred months mentioned in the Qur'an. The Prophet (ﷺ) referred to it as "The Month of Allah." It is a spiritual marketplace where the rewards for our good deeds are multiplied, and a powerful time to re-center our hearts.

🌱 As we step into 1448 AH, let's ask ourselves: What is one thing we are willing to leave behind for the sake of Allah this year?

The Story of Nūḥ ﷺ — 950 Years, One Son, and the Faith That Does Not Require Results

Nūḥ ﷺ preached for 950 years. At the end of it, a handful believed. Then Allah told him to build a boat — far from the sea, while his people laughed. Then the flood came, and his own son chose the mountain over his father’s ark. This khutbah tells that story in full — and asks what it means to hold onto Allah when the results give you every reason not to.
