Pollsters have discovered that when it comes to church attendance, people believe they attend church far more often than the actually do. Perhaps they count the Sundays they “meant to” attend along with those they actually attend.

For example, if a pollster asks someone how many times they have attended church during the four Sundays in June, they may respond with a 2 or 3. But if they actually get out their calendars and count Sundays, that 2 or 3 may actually be a 1 or a 0.

Once the July 4 holiday clears, summer settles down for many families. Kid sports are winding down or over and vacations are pretty much in the books.

I would like to encourage you to make a priority of attending church each week for the duration of the summer. Schedule church on your calendars like you do vacation or ball games! And make sure you are also in a small group and your children and grandchildren are attending children and student ministry.

Regular worship is a soul healthy habit. There is no down side to giving God His proper place in our lives and our families.

Our lives and the lives of our families are better with church in them!
