1 Corinthians 15:57–58 (NIV)
“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

A seed buried underground can look like nothing is happening. From above the soil, there may be no visible evidence of progress. But hidden from view, roots can be forming before anything breaks through the surface.

Some seasons of faithfulness feel exactly like that.

You pray, serve, give, forgive, encourage, disciple, worship, and obey—and sometimes you still wonder, “Is any of this making a difference?”

Paul's answer isn't based on immediate visible results. His confidence rests on the resurrection. First Corinthians 15 is about the risen Christ. Jesus got up. Therefore death doesn't win. Sin doesn't win. And work genuinely done “in the Lord” isn't empty.

Think about the cross. On Friday, Jesus' ministry could have appeared defeated. By Sunday morning, God revealed that the story wasn't finished.

So don't evaluate God's finished work from the middle of your unfinished story.

Your responsibility is faithfulness. The results ultimately belong to God. And because we belong to Christ, we don't labor as disconnected individuals. We pray together. Serve together. Encourage one another. Carry burdens together. Pursue God's mission together.

If it's in the Lord, it's never for nothing.

Lord Jesus, thank You that because You are alive, my hope is secure. When I cannot see the fruit of obedience, help me trust You with the results. Strengthen Unity Church to stand firm, serve faithfully, love deeply, and walk together in Your purpose. May everything we do be in You, through You, and for Your glory. Amen.

Return to Sunday's central question: Where have I been tempted to stop because I couldn't see the results? Write down your answer. Then surrender the results to God and choose one concrete act of faithfulness you will continue this week.

You may not see everything God is doing with your faithfulness yet. The prayer may seem unanswered. The seed may still be underground. The service may go unnoticed. But Sunday's message gave us this assurance: your labor in the Lord is not in vain. We belong to Christ, we serve His purpose together, and the resurrection assures us that God gets the final word. Don't judge the whole story while God is still writing the chapter—stay faithful and leave the results with Him.

Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Anyone who has traveled a long distance knows that needing a rest stop doesn't mean you've changed your destination. Sometimes stopping briefly is exactly what allows you to continue the journey.

Paul is remarkably realistic about Christian service. In 1 Corinthians 15:58, he calls it labor. Galatians acknowledges that we can “become weary in doing good.”

God doesn't require us to pretend we never get tired. Jesus Himself withdrew for rest and prayer. Rest can be part of faithful stewardship. The danger comes when exhaustion begins telling us that quitting is our only option.

Sometimes you don't need a new assignment. You need renewed strength for the assignment God already gave you. Let God restore you. Let trusted believers help carry burdens with you. Tired doesn't automatically mean finished.

Father, You know where I'm tired. Renew my strength and give me wisdom to know when I need rest and when I need perseverance. Keep weariness from convincing me to abandon what You have called me to do. Amen.

Choose one healthy form of restoration today—prayer, quiet, sleep, Scripture, or time with encouraging believers—and receive it without guilt.

Sometimes faithfulness is tiring—and Scripture doesn't pretend otherwise. You can love God and be tired. You can love your family and be tired. You can love the assignment and still need rest. Sunday's message reminded us not to confuse being tired with being finished. Biblical perseverance isn't refusing to rest; it's refusing to abandon Christ and His calling simply because the journey became difficult. Receive God's strength, lean on His people, and keep moving faithfully.

Imagine a player who stays on the field but stops participating. Technically, they're still in position—but they're no longer contributing to the mission.

Spiritually, something similar can happen. We can remain around the things of God while slowly withdrawing from the work God has called us to do.

Paul doesn't merely say, “Stay.” He says to abound in the work of the Lord. Faithfulness isn't passive survival. God has given His people gifts, opportunities, relationships, and assignments through which we can glorify Christ and serve others.

And we don't do it alone. The New Testament describes believers as one body with many members. Your contribution doesn't need to look like someone else's contribution to matter. In Christ, we belong to one another, and together we participate in God's mission.

Lord, thank You for giving me a place in Your family and a purpose in Your Kingdom. Show me where I can serve faithfully today. Keep me from simply occupying a position when You have called me to participate in Your work. Amen.

There's a difference between remaining in position and continuing in purpose. Paul doesn't simply tell believers to hang on—he tells us to always abound in the work of the Lord. Keep loving. Keep serving. Keep giving. Keep praying. Keep helping. Keep sharing Jesus. Your contribution matters because God designed His people to serve together, each person bringing what Christ has entrusted to them.

A tree doesn't prove its strength on a calm day. You discover the depth of its roots when the wind starts blowing.

Faith works similarly. Pressure reveals where our roots have grown.

Paul's command to be steadfast and immovable doesn't promise a pressure-free Christian life. Scripture repeatedly shows faithful people experiencing opposition, disappointment, temptation, and exhaustion. The question isn't whether pressure will come. The question is whether pressure gets to move us away from Christ.

Being unmovable doesn't mean pretending something doesn't hurt. It means deciding that what hurts me will not become more authoritative than the One who holds me.

Lord, strengthen me when pressure comes. Keep my heart anchored in Christ. Help me acknowledge what I feel without allowing fear, disappointment, or fatigue to move me away from Your truth. Amen.

When pressure rises today, pause before reacting. Pray: “Jesus, keep me anchored to You.”

Following Jesus doesn't mean pressure disappears. Life pushes. Disappointment pushes. Fear pushes. Fatigue pushes. But Sunday's message reminded us that being unmovable doesn't mean nothing ever hits us—it means everything that hits us doesn't get to determine where we stand. Stay anchored to Christ when circumstances try to push you away from what God has settled in your heart. Pressure can test your faith without becoming the master of your faith.
