For those who are worshiping at home with their family...

June 25, 2023
Fourth Sunday after Pentecost

1. Opening Prayer
Holy God who created all that exists, we praise you. We open our hearts and our spirits this day to your eternal love and forgiving mercy. Be with us as we participate in this worship service. Remind us again that Jesus Christ gave his life that we might fully understand the depth and breadth of your love. In all things and at all times we praise you. AMEN.

2. Hymn - Where He Leads Me (UMH 338)

3. Affirmation of Faith (Apostles Creed - UMH 881)

4. Scripture - Matthew 10:40-42
[Read the Scripture slowly and carefully as you meditate on God's Word. Feel free to share with your group the insights you received.]

5. Prayer
Lord Jesus, you reached out to us in our distress and lifted us up. You give us new life and we are grateful. For some of us this has been a wonderful week; but for others trials and troubles seem to crowd into their lives. We ask your loving presence with all your people, O Lord. Heal our wounded spirits; restore a sense of joy in our lives. Today we name in our hearts and with our voices those who are in need of your healing love. (Time for naming people or situations in need of God’s healing love…..). We thank you that you reach out to them, to all those whom we have named and for those whose names are in our hearts. Help us to be witnesses to the power of Jesus Christ to make those changes in our lives.

For those who are worshiping at home with their family...

June 4, 2023
Trinity Sunday

1. Opening Prayer
Merciful and Just God, we gather here this morning, each of us with many concerns on our hearts. Our hearts are concerned with systems of injustice which strip people of their dignity and their very lives. Help us to be those who would seek peace with justice, who would fight for those who are oppressed, offer voices for the voiceless and dignity for all humankind. Be with us this day and guide our steps toward a more just world in your name. AMEN.

2. Hymn - How Great Thou Art (UMH 77)

3. Affirmation of Faith (Apostles Creed - UMH 881)

4. Scripture - Matthew 28:16-20
[Read the Scripture slowly and carefully as you meditate on God's Word. Feel free to share with your group the insights you received.]

5. Prayer
We confess this day, O merciful God, that we have not always acted in just ways nor sought justice for our friends and neighbors. We have found it easy to turn our backs on problems rather than seeking to be a solution to them. We have heard of the many ways in which you have demonstrated peace with justice through the ministries of your Son, yet we have given only sporadic attention to them. Forgive us, Lord. Heal our selfishness and brokenness. Cause us to be witnesses to your great love as shown to us in Jesus Christ. AMEN.

For those who are worshiping at home with their family...

May 28, 2023
Pentecost Sunday

1. Opening Prayer
Spirit of wind and fire, come to us this day, freeing us from our fears. Lift us up when we have fallen. Dust us off and set us squarely on the path to hope you have set before us. Remind us that we are never far from your presence. Get us ready for the great adventure and opportunities that lie before us. Help us to be good and willing workers for you. In Christ’s Name, we pray. AMEN.

2. Hymn - This Is My Father’s World (UMH 144)

3. Affirmation of Faith (Apostles Creed - UMH 881)

4. Scripture - Acts 2:1-8, 12-21
[Read the Scripture slowly and carefully as you meditate on God's Word. Feel free to share with your group the insights you received.]

5. Prayer
Lord of patience and persistence, we live in a broken and shattered world. All around us we see great evidence of hatred and alienation. We cannot help but observe the alienation of your people from each other. We create devices to separate rather than unite; to divide rather than come together in hope. Forgive us for our sins. These sins cause such division and hurt. Remind us today that the disciples, too, lived in a fearful world and that one day you came to them, as they sat huddled in fear, and you empowered them. You gave them hearts of courage and faith. Please bring to us the same hearts that we may serve you well, bringing peace and hope to our world. In the name of Christ, we offer this prayer. AMEN.

Ascension Sunday

1. Opening Prayer
Lord of amazing visions, prepare our hearts and our spirits this day to receive your glad tidings of an Advocate. Help make us ready to be your disciples in all that we do, say, and think. For we ask this in the name of our beloved Savior Jesus Christ. AMEN.

2. Hymn - O How I Love Jesus (UMH 170)

3. Affirmation of Faith (Apostles Creed - UMH 881)

4. Scripture - Acts 1:1-11
[Read the Scripture slowly and carefully as you meditate on God's Word. Feel free to share with your group the insights you received.]

5. Prayer
We have to confess, O Lord, that we are people who want to have everything proven for us. We hear the message in the scripture of Jesus’ ascension, and we smile smugly, not truly believing the vision. Forgive us for our arrogant doubts and attitudes of smugness. Help us remember that everything Jesus taught us was to prepare us to help build God’s realm here on earth. We are called to be people of faith, not of absolute proof, as we understand it. Let us place our trust in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Let us look with eyes of faith as he ascends to the Father. We pray in his Name, AMEN.

5. Prayer
Lord of mercy, there are so many times in our lives when we feel alone. We wonder where you are. We cry out to you in our confusion, pain, and hurt. And when you do not immediately grant the prayers of our cries, we begin to doubt that you even care or exist. Stop us from going down this path of self-destruction. Help us look around and find the many ways in which you have blessed our lives. Forgive us when we are so quick to doubt and so arrogant in our demands of your responses. Give us a spirit of patience and willingness to be ready to hear your voice. Strengthen us for the ministries of love and hope that you have placed before us; for we ask this in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.
