Urban - Steven “Steve” Douglas Urban, age 66, of Jacksonville, Florida went to his Heavenly Home on September 3, 2026, at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital in Gainesville after a courageous 13-year battle with leukemia. He fought the good fight, and his battle is now at rest. He was born in San Diego, California on December 31, 1959, to the late Joseph Paul Urban and Doris Shirley Urban. Steve was raised in various places and settled in Jacksonville in the 1980’s. Following high school, he served briefly in the United States Navy before embarking on a long career in painting, carpentry, and property maintenance. On July 1, 1989, he married the love of his life, Donna Townsend. Together, they shared 37 wonderful years of marriage, raising two beloved children and welcoming a cherished granddaughter. A man truly gifted with his hands, Steve possessed a natural green thumb and spent countless hours tending to his vegetable gardens and plants. He also found peace and relaxation in fishing and was an enthusiastic collector of a wide variety of eclectic treasures. Above all, Steve treasured his role as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, holding close every moment spent with his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by everyone whose life he touched. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Urban.
Steve leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Donna Urban of Jacksonville, FL; children, Joshua Steven Urban and Bethany Rozan (Kevin) Spence; granddaughter, Skyler Rose Spence; brothers, Brian (Leisa) Urban, Mark Urban; sisters, Tina Brent, Sheri Urban, and Lisa (Robert) Scott; nephews, Cody (Joanna) Brent, Aaron Brent, and Kyler (Brea) Brent; nieces, Shaina Lachapelle, Tara Crosby, Ashley Urban, Carly Brent, Logan Urban, and Laney Urban; along with many extended family members and dear friends.
