We as Christians should never be seen as a boastful people. The world may revel in boasting and label it "self-confidence" and uphold it as a prime virture. But we who are in Christ know that all boasting is illegitimate. What do we have that we have not received? And if we received it as a gift from God, we cannot and should not boast as if we had done what God actually did. Make us humble people, O Lord. Amen.

The Lord God Almighty is our King – we should forever praise his name! When we stop to consider all God has done and all God will do, we should be filled with wonder and awe. The Bible tells us story after story about God's strength and power. He defeated our enemies and Satan. He is all powerful. When we are tempted to rely on our own strength, we must resist. When we question God's ability, we must remember his greatness. Begin and end your days by exalting his holy name.
