Join us a s we enter the blessed month of Rabī‘ al-Awwal, honoring the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Fayda Digital is delighted to present an enlightening KnowledgeCast lecture series. This series will provide an in-depth exploration of the revered 'Tania Poem,' also known as 'Minqablia,' a distinguished collection of prophetic praise. This poem, celebrated for its profound devotion to the Prophet ﷺ, was traditionally recited publicly by Shaykh Ibrahim from the first sighting of the moon in Rabī‘ al-Awwal, continuing through the nights of the month up to and including the day of the Noble Mawlid celebration. This practice, deeply rooted in the traditions of the Mauritanian Shareef, Shaykh Baddi al-Alawi, forms a significant part of our series.
The anthology curated by Shaykh Baddi blends original compositions with selections from esteemed poets who have praised the Prophet ﷺ. Included are:
- Abbas, the Prophet’s uncle
- Lisan ad-Deen ibn al-Khateeb, born in Granada and passed in Fez
- Hassan ibn Thabit, renowned for his praise of the Prophet ﷺ
- Ka’b ibn Zuhair, author of the original “Burdah” or "Baanat Su’ad"
- Abu Talib, the Prophet’s uncle, may Allah have mercy on him
- Imam Busairi, known for the “Burda” or Poem of the Mantle
- And Shaykh Baddi’s own compositions, including the famous chorus starting with “Tahniatur-Rabi’i, Bi Mad-hatish-Shafi’i….”
Shaykh Baddi was a disciple of Shaykh Muhammad Hafiz, who himself was a direct student of Shaykh Ahmad at-Tijani. Shaykh Muhammad Hafiz played a pivotal role in bringing the Tariqa to West Africa, traveling from Morocco through Burayna, Mauritania, and expanding it to Senegal, Nigeria, Niger, Sudan, The Gambia, Ghana, Mali, and beyond. After receiving initiation from Shaykh Ahmad at-Tijani in Fez, Shaykh Muhammad Hafiz kept his mission discreet until its public revelation. His return to Burayna marked the Tariqa’s swift spread throughout the region.
The series will feature Shaykh Seydi Aliou Cisse, whose insights will enrich our understanding of this beloved poem and its place in the devotional practice. We hope this series will enhance your spiritual connection and deepen your love for the Prophet ﷺ through these illuminating discussions.
