Wed Meditation Class ~ June 10th

06/10/2026

Wed Meditation Class ~ June 3rd - was a super special class! We had a candlelight guided meditation followed by a tribute for Venerable Michael Viradhammo, as he approaches his 10th vassa, basically his 10 years in saffron robes. This was a very special occasion for us as Venerable Michael, he began his journey at GMC in 2015 and soon after gave temporary ordination a try, only to choose to stay in robes as long as he is happy and his heart is content. For us to be able to celebrate him was a true gift! We had the biggest attendance for a Wednesday evening meditation class and it was absolutely the perfect way to pay tribute to one of our own who has continue on to carve a path to be the light so that others could se through the dark ☀️

This class marks the last offering of guided meditation with our guest teachers Venerable Michael & Venerable Nick, it was a send-off class as we wish them well on their journey to their next destination, where they will continue sharing wisdom and brightness with all those they meet.

VESAK Day, a Buddhist Holy Day, celebrates the Buddha’s birth, Enlightenment, and passing to nirvana. All three events occurred on the same day– the full moon day of the sixth lunar month.

This year’s Vesak Day celebrated on Sunday May 31st ~our community came together to reflect on the significance of this holy day by meditation, lighting of lanterns, and honoring this day by a circumambulation. Vesak is also a celebration of peace. When the Buddha dedicated his life in search of the truth, he discovered that inner peace is the origin of true peace, by meditating and by stilling his mind at the center of his body.
