🎤 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗥 𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 | 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗕𝘆𝗿𝗱𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗴 💜

Since surrendering her life to the lordship of Jesus Christ over 50 years ago, Sherialyn Byrdsong has been a 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱. Her passion is studying scripture and discipling others to have an intimate relationship with God. She has served as a 𝗯𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿, 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿 in her various church homes around the country. In addition to being a stay-at-home mom during her three children’s formative years, Sherialyn has been a middle and high school math and science teacher and a basketball coach at all levels from elementary to Division 1 (University of Arizona).

Following the tragic 1999 murder of her husband (Ricky Byrdsong, head basketball coach at Northwestern University), by a white supremacist, 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝘂𝗻 𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. She has been a voice in our nation’s capital for hate crimes legislation and sensible gun laws. She is on the board of trustees of Global Action on Gun Violence, the only U.S. based non-profit organization using litigation and human rights strategies to reform dangerous gun industry practices. She 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘆 𝗕𝘆𝗿𝗱𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝘁𝗲 in Evanston, IL, which for the past 27 years has been the 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗻/𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Sherialyn’s hobbies include yardwork, reading, golf and playing and teaching piano. The best words to describe her are mother, teacher, coach, friend and “𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿.”
