Dealing With Silent Frustrations While Having Faith That Refuses to Quit
Bishop Timothy McKibbins
Silent frustration is an internal state of annoyance or helplessness that goes unexpressed, often resulting in bottled-up resentment, emotional withdrawal, or passive-aggressive behavior rather than direct communication. It occurs when you suppress feelings of irritation—either to keep the peace or because you lack a safe outlet.
Focus Scripture:
2 Chronicles 20:15
"Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's."
The phrase "the battle is not yours, but God's" is a comforting statement of faith and surrender. it reminds us that facing overwhelming challenges—such as health, financial, or relationship struggles—you do not have to rely solely on their own strength
*We must see frustration as a distraction to the supernatural power of God if we let it.
Key themes of this message include:
Surrender & Trust-we can't control and fix everything.
Divine Strength-some battles, you need God.
Peace Over Panic-be encouraged and stand still and find peace while trusting that God, the higher power, all powerful God is fighting on your behalf.
Lord, heal me from silent frustration.
“Spiritual development does not mean you won’t have to deal with your humanity”
Our stance must be like Job’s “though he slay me yet will I trust Him”,
Dealing with silent frustrations requires shifting from a victim mentality to trusting in God's sovereignty, understanding that temporary trials are part of a larger, purposeful plan. Overcoming these hidden, internal struggles involves personally engaging with scripture rather than relying on others, and managing personal responses rather than trying to control.
Key Approaches to Handling Silent Frustrations:
Acknowledge and Release: Instead of letting frustrations (such as health struggles or relational issues) fester, name them and offer them to God.
Trust in God's Sovereignty: Realize that God plans for good, even in frustrating situations, and that He is not frustrated, as discussed by Dr. Charles Stanley.
Focus on the Future: Move beyond current, temporary frustrations by focusing on your spiritual destination, not just your present circumstances.
Personal Spiritual Study: Overcome a passive "welfare mentality" by digging into the Word of God yourself to avoid spiritual burnout.
Stop Trying to Prove Yourself: Release the need to prove anything to others, which reduces mental acidity and brings peace.
Manage Your Own Reactions: When experiencing the "silent treatment" or emotional setbacks, control your own responses rather than managing others' reactions.
Embrace Holy Discontent: Use feelings of dissatisfaction as a prompt to seek a greater purpose, not just to complain.
“Silent frustrations can cause you to respond emotionally”
Hebrews 4:12(NIV)
"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." (NIV)
We must be emotionally & spiritually mature to not react of what has disappointed us.
We must properly process our pain and disappointments.
Closing Scriptures:
Psalm 102
Isaiah 40:31
Romans 8:28
1 Corinthians 15:58
Sometimes pressure slowly builds up.
Remind yourself that the battle is not mine but it's the Lord's.
Silent frustration often sneaks up you sometimes.
Often times, Satan target those that truly loves God and that have a divine purpose.
I don't trust my emotions, I trust the spirit of God.
Everyone has to answer to God for themselves.
You have to dig for yourself.
Send your praise before your problem.
Pivot, pray, and fast before you hear from God.
