ATLANTA — THIS is what community looks like! 💙💛

We are so excited to celebrate our new friends at Deeds 4 Good ATL, who are turning a Saturday afternoon into something much bigger: GOOD VIBES. GOOD PEOPLE. REAL IMPACT.

This Saturday, August 29, Deeds 4 Good ATL is bringing the community together at Atlantucky Brewing for an afternoon of live music, food, fun — and a mission that means so much to us at Frontline Response.

Right now, Frontline is reaching approximately 300 men, women and children every single day. Just feeding that many people three meals a day can mean serving up to 900 meals in ONE DAY — before we ever provide a bed, a shower, hygiene supplies, case management, transportation or the other essentials that help someone move from crisis toward stability.

We simply cannot do that alone.

And that is exactly why partnerships like this matter.

So come have some fun with us — but don’t come empty-handed! Fill the car. Grab a few things on your next grocery run. Ask your friends, family or coworkers to pitch in.

We especially need:
Toiletries • Feminine hygiene products • Baby supplies • Laundry detergent • Disinfecting wipes • Hand sanitizer • Toilet paper • Paper towels • Trash bags • Bottled water • Non-perishable snacks

The excitement is building — and so is the conversation.

Our second Beyond Us Community Summit had 175 people registered, up from 135 for our first gathering. That growth tells us something important: our community is ready to talk about what it will take to create lasting solutions to housing insecurity.

Beyond Us is not about building a plan for our community. We are building it with our community. We want to hear your ideas, concerns, experiences, and what you believe is needed to better connect housing, services, opportunity, and long-term stability.

We’re building something bigger—but we’re not building it without you.

Frontline Response and Peace Baptist Church are embarking on a new community initiative: the Beyond Us Collective, envisioned as a 25-acre live, work and play campus designed to bring housing, services and community together around one goal—a clearer pathway to restoration for individuals and families experiencing housing insecurity.

But a campus alone doesn’t solve homelessness. People do. Community does. And the voices of those who have lived it must be part of designing what comes next.

That’s why we’re hosting a series of Community Summits to bring residents, service providers, government, faith partners, community leaders—and most importantly, those with lived experience—to the same table.

Our next Summit is August 20 and focuses on Service Integration: How can housing, behavioral health, human services and other providers work together so people aren't left navigating disconnected systems on their own?

We want all voices heard. Join us, ask questions, challenge ideas and help shape what this can become.

DECATUR, Ga. – In response to continued high temperatures, DeKalb County, in partnership with local service providers, is advising that day centers are available as options to assist vulnerable residents seeking relief from the extreme heat.

County officials encourage persons in need to take advantage of these locations and wrap around services during operating hours.

The following facilities are currently available and open during normal operating hours:
· Frontline Response – 2585 Gresham Rd., Atlanta, GA 30316
· Peace Baptist Church Annex – 3999 Covington Highway, Decatur, GA 30032
· South DeKalb Day Center at New Life Community Alliance – 3592 Flat Shoals Rd., Decatur GA 30034
· Golden Door Event Center – 2944 Ember Drive, Decatur, GA 30034

“Extreme heat can pose serious health risks, particularly for our most vulnerable residents,” said DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson. “We encourage anyone in need of a safe, cool environment to utilize these resources and check on family members, neighbors, and friends during periods of excessive heat.”

Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.

Seniors in need of assistance should contact the Senior Link Line at 770-322-2950.

Every two years in January, communities across the country participate in the Point-in-Time (PIT) Count—a nationwide effort to estimate the number of people experiencing homelessness on a single night.

New legislation, out of Wyoming, is being considered that could change how these counts are conducted. It also raises an important question:

Is January—the coldest month of the year in many parts of the country—the best time to measure homelessness nationwide?

In warmer climates, like here in GA, the season may have less impact. But in colder regions, weather can influence where people seek shelter, how visible homelessness is, and ultimately the data that shapes funding and policy decisions.

There may not be a perfect answer, but accurate data matters.

What are your thoughts? Should the nation's count continue in January, or is there a better time to understand the true scope of homelessness?

🔹 Resume development assistance
🔹 Career coaching and case management
🔹 Employment placement support
🔹 Transportation assistance through our FastTrack program
