Pastors‼️
📌 Let’s normalize saying “I don’t know” and partnering with licensed therapists or practicing psychiatrists when attempting to assist our members with navigating through trauma.
📌 Let’s not over spiritualize crises that require therapeutic or medicinal intervention. Those behaviors and that psychosis that we resolved to call “demons” just because we didn’t have the education or experience to properly define….well science has given us evidence, resources AND tools to identify, understand and treat them.
📌 It’s perfectly ok, and takes nothing from your competence to lead them spiritually to admit when you are limited in an area of expertise and knowledge. Your care as a pastor shows up in an even greater way as you utilize your network of professional peers and colleagues as a benefit to the wholistic wellbeing of your faith community.
