In Acts 1:8, Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would come in power and that the gospel would move outward: from Jerusalem, to Judea and Samaria, and ultimately to the ends of the earth. In Acts 1–7, we see that mission take root in Jerusalem and begin to spread into Judea. By Acts 8, the gospel breaks into Samaria and beyond, and God chooses an ordinary man named Philip to carry it forward.

From Philip's story, we see a stunning picture of God creating an opportunity and giving him the courage to take it. Could the same be true of us?
