🙌🏾 Youth Worship Sunday 🙌🏾

What a powerful and inspiring service! 🎶❤️ From the voices of our young people leading us in praise, to the musicians, speakers, and worship leaders guiding the service, our youth reminded us that God is actively working through the next generation right now. ✨

Preacher Edwin J. Johnson challenged us with a timely message entitled “Avoiding the Path of Least Resistance” based on Matthew 7:13-14. In a world that constantly encourages shortcuts, convenience, and comfort, we were reminded that following Christ often means choosing the narrow road—the path that develops character, strengthens faith, and produces spiritual growth. 🙏🏾🛤️

💡 Key reminders from the sermon:

➡️ The world teaches us to take shortcuts, but God calls us to purpose. ✝️

➡️ Growth comes from the narrow path. 🌱💪🏾

➡️ We often know the right thing to do—we’re simply negotiating with comfort. 🤔⚖️

➡️ Discipline is hard. 🏋🏾‍♂️

➡️ Sacrifice is hard. ❤️‍🩹

➡️ Forgiveness is hard. 🤝🏾

➡️ Consequences are hard. ⚠️

➡️ Bitterness is hard. 😔

➡️ But living life without Christ is hard too. ✝️

➡️ Choose your hard wisely. 🙌🏾🔥

As we watched our youth sing 🎤, testify 🗣️, lead worship 🙌🏾, and serve throughout the sanctuary, we saw a beautiful example of what it looks like to choose the narrow path and boldly use their gifts for God’s glory. ✨

Sunday was more than a service—it was a celebration of faith, leadership, and the bright future God is preparing through our young people. 🌟👧🏾👦🏾🎶

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction… But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life.” — Matthew 7:13-14 📖

We are incredibly proud of our youth and grateful for every parent 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, mentor 🤝🏾, teacher 🍎, and leader 🙏🏾 investing in their spiritual growth.

🔥 ✝️🙌🏾🎵❤️

🎶❤️ “Woke up this morning with my mind… stayed on Jesus!” ❤️🎶

What a beautiful and powerful moment of worship as Turner Monumental AME Church joined voices with our brothers and sisters from Kirkwood United Church of Christ (KUCC) this Sunday!

As we lifted the words “stayed on Jesus… Hallelu, Hallelujah,” the room became a reminder that worship has a way of bringing people together across backgrounds, generations, and traditions. One choir. One sound. One Spirit. 🙌🏾🔥

Thank you to every singer, musician, worship leader, and every person who stood, clapped, sang, and worshiped with us. These are the moments that remind us that the Church is strongest when we worship together in unity.

📖 “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” — Psalm 133:1

🔥❤️ PENTECOST SUNDAY RECAP ❤️🔥

What happens when heaven meets earth?

We gathered with our brothers and sisters from Kirkwood United Church of Christ (KUCC) and experienced worship, fellowship, truth-telling, community, and the movement of the Holy Spirit.

🌬️ A mighty wind🔥 A holy fire🗣️ Many voices❤️ One Body in Christ

Through Acts 2, Reverend R Ward reminded us that Pentecost is not about becoming the same—it’s about the Spirit helping us understand one another.

✨ “All were amazed and perplexed… What does this mean?” It means God is still moving. It means truth matters. It means our differences make us stronger. It means freedom begins when we leave narrow places.

From worship… to prayer… to fellowship around the table… we witnessed God bringing people together.

🎶 This little light of mine… I’m gonna let it shine. 🎶

🔥❤️ PENTECOST SUNDAY | “WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?” ❤️🔥

This past Sunday, Turner Monumental AME Church had the joy of worshiping alongside our siblings in faith from Kirkwood United Church of Christ (KUCC) for a Spirit-filled Pentecost celebration.

Reverend “R” Ward (KUCC) brought a powerful talk-back message rooted in Acts 2:1–8, 12, inviting us into the refrain:

“All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, ‘What does this mean?’”

Pentecost began with people gathered in one place… and then heaven met earth.

A rushing wind. Tongues of fire. Different voices. Different backgrounds. Different experiences.

Yet somehow…

Everyone heard in their own language.

Pastor R reflected on years as a journalist—trained to ask what, where, when, and why—and reminded us that witnessing truth without bias may be one of the hardest assignments we receive.

Pentecost teaches us that the Holy Spirit does not erase differences—it bridges them.

Freedom begins when we leave narrow places.

The Spirit calls us beyond assumptions, beyond projecting our own experiences onto others, and into the holy work of listening, understanding, healing, reconciling, and seeking truth together.

When we pray:

“Come Holy Spirit…”

we are asking for help.

Help to understand. Help to witness. Help to listen. Help to act on truth.

The Spirit is our companion in confusion and our guide toward grace.

To be a witness means being willing to sit in uncomfortable and unfamiliar spaces and pay attention to what God is doing.

Because our faith is not a performance.

It is a participatory journey.

And through the Holy Spirit, we discover that our differences do not weaken the Body of Christ—

✨ Our differences make us stronger. ✨

As worship rose, voices joined, prayers were lifted, meals were shared, and community gathered around one table, we were reminded:

We may be closer to freedom than we think.

So let your light shine. Bear witness to God’s love. Seek truth.Listen deeply. And move where the Spirit leads.

🎶 This little light of mine…
I’m going to let it shine. 🎶

💧✨ Sunday service was a beautiful reminder that God’s promises are real… and so is the process. ✨💧

This week’s message from Rev. Jeffrey B. Cooper II — “Terms and Conditions May Apply” challenged us to look deeper than the promise and embrace the process that leads to it.

Too often we rush straight to Jeremiah 29:11 — “For I know the plans I have for you…” — but Pastor reminded us that before the promise came Jeremiah 29:10.

👉🏾 Before restoration came waiting.
👉🏾 Before deliverance came growth.
👉🏾 Before the blessing… there was Babylon.

And what a powerful picture we witnessed in worship through Holy Baptism. 💧🤍

As families stood together, children were dedicated, water was poured, prayers were lifted, and voices filled the sanctuary in praise, we were reminded:

🔹 God’s promises are worth the process
🔹 Growth takes time
🔹 Faithfulness is formed in the waiting
🔹 Struggles strengthen character
🔹 God calls us to be fruitful wherever we are planted

Baptism is more than a moment—it is a declaration that we trust God not only for the destination, but for the journey.

Even in seasons that feel like Babylon, God is still working.
Even when we cannot see the timeline, God is shaping our spirit.
Even when terms and conditions apply… the promise still stands.

📖 “When seventy years are completed… I will come to you and fulfill my good promise…” — Jeremiah 29:10

Congratulations to Sis. Tiffany’s family and everyone who participated in this sacred moment. May this be only the beginning of a lifetime of growing, trusting, planting, praying, and walking with God.

🎉🍗 GRACEPOINT IS APPROVED… AND WHAT A WEEKEND OF CELEBRATION! 🍗🎉

To God be the glory for the great things He has done!

We are overflowing with gratitude and joy to share that on Monday, May 18th, Atlanta City Council officially APPROVED the zoning request for the GracePoint Senior Living Community! 🙌🏾🏡💙

What began as a vision has taken a major step toward becoming reality.

GracePoint is more than buildings and plans—it is ministry in action. It is Turner Monumental reaching beyond our walls to serve seniors, strengthen community, and create space for our neighbors to live with dignity, support, and hope.

This victory belongs to God and to every person who:
💙 Prayed
💙 Attended meetings
💙 Wore blue
💙 Spoke in support
💙 Encouraged leadership
💙 Showed up and stood together

And this weekend felt like the perfect preview of what community looks like.

On Saturday, our Community BBQ & Letter Writing Campaign brought together church family, neighbors, and visitors from the bustling Kirkwood Spring Fling weekend. The day started with runners passing by during the morning 5K and ended with full hearts and full plates.

🍖 Ribs off the smoker
🍗 Grilled chicken
🍔 Burgers & hotdogs
🎶 Great music
📝 Letters written to support Atlanta Housing Authority vouchers for future GracePoint seniors
❤️ Conversations, laughter, fellowship, and new connections

Families gathered under the tents, stories were shared, friendships were strengthened, and together we continued the work of building something bigger than ourselves.

There is still work ahead—but this weekend reminded us that the mission is already alive.

“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are glad.” — Psalm 126:3

GracePoint is moving forward.
Turner Monumental is moving forward.
And God is not finished yet.

🎉🙌🏾 HALLELUJAH! GOD DID IT AGAIN! 🙌🏾🎉

On Monday, May 11, the Atlanta City Council Zoning Committee voted UNANIMOUSLY YES for the GracePoint Senior Living Community! 🏡💙 Every vote counted in favor of this vision, and we are overflowing with gratitude and joy!

What started with prayer 🙏🏾, faith ✨, and a God-given vision is moving closer and closer to becoming reality for seniors who deserve dignity, safety, affordability, and community.

THANK YOU to every church member, neighbor, supporter, and prayer warrior who stood with us — whether at City Hall or praying from home. Your presence, prayers, and support helped carry this moment forward! 💪🏾❤️

One more major step remains before the full City Council, so let’s keep praying, believing, and standing together! 🚪🔥

💙 “His grace is sufficient.”
