We had a great day Sunday! We celebrated our teachers and students who are headed back to class.
Our scripture for the year is Jeremiah 29:11. We're all on a JOURNEY through this life together. Thank goodness we can rely on GOD who knows the way and has THE plans, really good plans for us.

Nehemiah is committed to rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. We learned last Sunday that he first responded by acknowledging the reality of the situation. Then he wept. He was burdened for his homeland. His next step was to pray. Our church family can follow this same pattern as we seek to fulfill our mission as a spiritual outpost in Atlanta and Sandy Springs. We have understood our situation, and we are concerned for our neighbors. The next step is to speak with God about our future. Of course we believe in prayer, but let's take a closer look at how being more intentional in our praying can make a huge difference. Please join us this Sunday at 10:30 am

This Sunday
"Rebuilding When the Walls are Broken" is the title of this week's sermon as we look at the work of Nehemiah in rebuilding Jerusalem's defensive walls in just 52 days. There are many similarities between this story and the story of St. John Church. Revitalization always begins with a recognition of the conditions around us while also having empathy for the brokenness which can seem overwhelming. Please join us at 10:30 am

"Well done, good and faithful servant." These are the words every follower of Jesus desires to hear from the Lord at the end of their life. What does it mean to "finish well." How can we be intentional as we plan out our future? What steps should we take now to ensure a future that is honorable and meaningful?
The final message in the Running series is Running to Finish Well. Every disciple needs to hear this. Join us for service this Sunday at 10:30 am.

You are invited to attend a concert of Hope and Remembrance presented by ZIMRIA,
a chorus of dedicated professional singers. The repertoire consists of a variety of anthems in the Hebrew tradition, and a cantata composed by local musician William Dreyfoos. This great choral force will be joined by violinist Angele Lawless, cellist George Butler, and conducted by Dr. William Baker, founder and CEO of the William Baker Choral Foundation.

GREAT MUSIC THIS SATURDAY!!

A Saturday concert is unusual for us, but this Saturday June 20 at 4:00 PM the Atlanta Ragtime Band will present a concert of lively American Music right here at St. John! The program of American music commemorates the 19th of June, 1865, when news of the end of the Civil War finally reached enslaved people in Texas!

The band is an ensemble of 14 professional musicians from a variety of symphony orchestras and university faculties in Georgia. Don't miss this!

In this season of the 250th birthday of the USA you will find this music joyous and energizing!
