What Really Matters

"Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."
Matthew 6:31-33

Our lives can become so cluttered with deadlines, activities, and projects that we often don’t know where to start in hopes of clearing some of the mess that engulf our lives. We are overwhelmed by all that is on our proverbial plate and forget that we have the blueprint for organization. If we place God first and all that He has for us, He promises to add unto us and guide us as we place things in their proper position and proper perspective. If we begin to focus on what matters most, God will give us what we need to conquer all other matters. Your family matters to you. Your friends matter to you. Your finances matter to you. But above all and most importantly, what really matters is your unwavering faith in Our Father! It is laying hold to The Most High that really matters for when you do, all other matters will be given unto you. Begin to prioritize and strategize how to maximize your life's moments by focusing on who and what really matters. Develop a "God First" focus; building all matter - any person, place or thing as defined by science - on the foundation of God and His word, and watch all that matters in your life fall into place!

And your praise goes right there!

Our Reaction Is What Counts

“When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “Perhaps Joseph will hate us, and may actually repay us for all the evil which we did to him.” Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God. But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.”
Genesis 50:15; 19-20

There was an old deodorant commercial that charged every consumer to "never let them see you sweat." The slogan clearly conveys the message that no matter what pressures or stressors are present, you - my brother and my sister - keep your cool. As a child of God, you have the unique ability to look above and beyond your current lemon-like situation; knowing that a lemonade-like solution is possible. We can keep our wit while others are at their wits end because we have a hope and a future in The Most High God. Beloved, it isn't stress nor the problems that hurt you, it's how you react to it. We don’t respond like those who are without hope, but hold firmly to the rope of our hope which is faith in Christ Jesus. In the text, Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers, sent to prison falsely by Potiphar’s wife, but still rose to his proper place in the palace. All this transpired, not because he went tit for tat or toe to toe with the opposition; it transpired because he simply held on to what God said to him and about him. As the problems and stress mount in your life, don't attack the mountain of misery or peaks of problems, but choose to attach yourself closer to Our God who is able to move mountains and give you peace in your problems. Placing your attention on Him and not your issues displays a faith in your eternal hope that you know, that you know, that you know; things will work out for the good of them that love The Lord! Remember on this winning, wonderful and worship-filled Wednesday, you don't have to say or be “too blessed to be stressed”; but you are blessed even while you're stressed. You just need to remind yourself to act - and react - that way!!

And your praise goes right there!

It Will Work Out

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."
Romans 8:28

Often, we live a life with more questions and uncertainties than confidence in our direction or decisions. Life may seem chaotic, discombobulated and in complete shambles, but Paul reminds us that it will work out for our good when we put our trust in God. There's no need to stress ourselves trying to figure out what God has already worked out! We just have to walk in our purpose and believe what is to come is greater that what is currently at hand. The health issues will work out. The financial woes will work out. The job, the career, or the new business will work out. The family crisis will work out. The relationship troubles will work out. Now let me pause for a second to remind you; sometimes the best solution to your situation is for God to work it out by getting you out! Trust the God of your salvation to bring you to an expected end; one where you are the head and not the tail, a victor and not the victim! Beloved, today is your day to walk boldly as above the stress and not beneath the mess; it will work out because you are a winner and not a constant whiner! Remind yourself that this Christian pilgrimage or race is not given to the swift, nor is it awarded to those who appear or happen to be strong, but the current race we run takes endurance and patience. Keep moving forward with the aid of God’s grace and mercy; you shall be terrific and triumphant over it all on this Tuesday because it will work out for the good of them that love The Lord OUR God!

And your praise goes right there!

Peace and Blessings to You!

His Grace is Sufficient

"Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
2 Corinthians 12:8-10

Time and time again we struggle with our own personal vices or demons which others can empathize with, but can truly never understand. It becomes a constant battle against the thing which haunts us and antagonizes us the most; preventing us from totally living free to become what God has pre-destined us to be. It may be self doubt, fear of success, an addiction, or foolish pride that pokes and prods at our core; causing us to feel insecure in our calling and in our purpose. Truth is, we've prayed and asked for strength to overcome, but God uses this very thing that keeps hindering us to keep us humble in our pursuit of excellence. It is a constant reminder of our weakness through flaws, but our strength and greatness by His grace. Though we alone cannot handle our issues or the perplexities of life, often drawing insufficient funds from the bank of our own intelligence, power, skill and know how; God's grace is sufficient for every case and in every cause. He is magnified to greater, stronger, and bigger in our times of trouble as a reminder there is nothing or no one greater than The Most High God. His grace makes up the gap where we, with our frail, human selves, come up lacking. As we embark upon November, affectionately known as “STOvember,” the month of both my sisters and my birthday ; celebrate being consecrated and elevated to Bishop in The Lord’s Church; and the gathering of family and friends for one of my favorite holidays: Thanksgiving, I thank God for preserving and prospering me with His amazing and all sufficient grace! I dare not boast of the gift of grace, but I thank God for we are stronger and better in His grace! Start your Monday by being motivated to move forward freely; living bolder and standing taller than ever before knowing even when you seem weak, in Him you are stronger, wiser and better. Beloved, His grace is sufficient!

And your praise goes right there!

Free to Be Me

“Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, And broke their chains in pieces.”
Psalm 107:13-14

There was a hit song during the 1980's that declared, "shackles on my feet won't let me dance". Truth is, shackles placed anywhere - on your feet, hands, mind, spirit, etc., - confines and constricts you to limits that reveal only part of your greatness. Excellence is obtained by not merely stepping outside the physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, educational, personal or professional box man attempts to place you in; but by living in Christ and knowing that these proverbial boxes don’t exist when you can do all things through Him. Those who The Son makes free are limitless in their possibilities and opportunities! As you tackle your Friday and move into your weekend, know that the authentic, unfiltered you can only be discovered in liberty. Being bound by physical, mental, or spiritual restraints will never allow you to reach your maximum potential. Release everything and everyone that hinders you from being you or is unwilling to accept you for being you. Those holding you back from your destiny aren't worth the weight (heavy stress) or the wait (time wasted) that ultimately lead to hurt, harm, headaches and heartaches. Choose to live freely, laugh freely and love freely; being and becoming the absolute best you possible. Choose the one who makes you happy and brings you joy versus the one others think you should be with for image sake. Make others either accept, appreciate and value you for who you genuinely are or watch as you soar towards greatness in their presence, yet without their presence; providing them the choice to love you or leave you alone! Make this a true Freedom Friday as you purposefully make the internal, as well as external, declaration that you deserve to be “free to be me!”

And your praise goes right there!

Defying Logic

"And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible."
Mark 10:27

In life, we are often confronted with seemingly insurmountable odds and near impossible situations. As we find ourselves stuck between the proverbial rock and a hard place, we allow our carnal minds to believe there is "no way" to get through, get over or even get around our circumstances. When we scrap the analytical view of life through man's eyes and begin with a new perspective formed through faith in God, we start to see probability where there was once impossibility! God can - and will - turn what man sees as no way to an open highway that leads you to victory over your situations! God's divine plans often defy human logic. Gideon increased the greatness of his army after diminishing the quantity of men in the army. Joshua won a battle by only marching and shouting. A blind man received sight from a paste made with dirt and spit. These acts would seem crazy to man, but are a part of God's plan. Take a moment to think how God has worked in your life. Man thought you were going down to nothing but soon discovered God was up to something! Man thought you were about to have a nervous breakdown but soon discovered God was ultimately orchestrating your breakthrough! Man wondered how you handled your problems, pains and predicaments with strength while you worshipped The Most High God for being the strength of your life and a present help in times of trouble. No matter what it looks like to man, trust God's plan for your transformation. You may have to go through what appears to be the impossible, stretched to what seems to be unfair limits or do what seems to be the ridiculous; but your obedience will be rewarded with a victory that defies logic! So see yourself healed. See your family better. See your struggles as over. Begin defying logic and live as though you are already in your promoted and elevated place. Live as though the pain has already past and your past has already been pardoned! Be thankful on this Thursday that God still specializes in the impossible and is still defying man’s logic!

And your praise goes right there!

I Won't Go Back

"And another also said, 'Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house.' But Jesus said to him, 'No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Luke 9:61-62

All of us have earnestly and fervently prayed for God to deliver us from some person, place or thing that served as an impediment to our destiny. The truth is, we all have not only had some things we've been delivered from, but find ourselves mired in matters we currently need delivering from! Today's text is tailored to teach us that we must trust God for what's kingdom designed ahead of us rather than the familiarity of what's deployed behind us. As God provides the exodus plan and process, it is our duty to move forward and not look back. Our past is the past for a reason; if our destiny or deliverance was in it, we would have already arrived at that desired place! Looking back shifts your focus from the promise of your future to the post traumatic stress that was caused by your past. Refrain from looking back; it's hard to look back without going back. Let this day serve as your new beginning; leaving the worry of the past, the petty people that perpetuate mess, the fickle and funny so-called friends, and everything thing that does not add value to you but tries to diminish your worth in your behind. I won’t go back to you demeaning me. I won’t go back to you not recognizing what I bring to the table or to the boardroom. I won’t go back to the lies and deceit you continue to feed me. I won’t go back to a so-called love that is manifested through physical and emotional bruising. I won't go back to the good ole days because, truthfully, the good ole days weren't all that good. Make this Monday Magnificent by adopting the Mantra of I won't go back because my future with God is before me and filled with potential, promises and possibilities. I’ve decided I can’t and I won't go back!!

And your praise goes right there!

Finish Strong

“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.”
1 Corinthians 9:25-26

Many runners count themselves out of a race because they stumble out of the starting blocks. A good coach, however, teaches a runner to keep going; don't ever give up because you never know what might happen. Some of us count ourselves out of blessings and victories in life because of a stumble or mistake in our past. However, God, our Great Coach, tells us to run on and see what the end is going to be, for there is a crown waiting for those who finish the course. Though you may have started your journey to destiny later than others, had a few valleys you had to go through, or even got off the path from time to time; God has not disqualified you from reaching your goal. The race we run is not given to the swift, nor the strong, but to the one who endures to the end. Beloved, it's not how you start, but how you finish that matters. Your week, your season, your career, your education, your ministry, your life, your relationships, etc; may have gotten off to a not so perfect beginning, but it doesn't have to end that way. You have the chance to re-invent yourself by finishing strong. As we move through the last two months of 2023, there is still time to fulfill those resolutions and accomplish the goals set in January. There is still time to have the love you want. Choose this Triumphant Thursday as your starting point for forgetting about what you’ve lost or what you don’t have and the day you begin to focus on what you do have and WHO you do have. Forget about the almost 10 months that are gone in this year and begin to focus on The Most High God who can do in two months left in 2024 what man couldn’t do in 20 years. Forget about what you’ve lost and start using the resources you do have as a seed for the harvest you desire. Forget about the past hurt, pain, and disappointment and begin to concentrate on where you're going and the ultimate finish line of your divine destiny. As you purposefully progress toward November and December, I challenge you to let go of the constraints of a false start or faulty beginning, and compel you to live strong, be strong, and finish strong!

And your praise goes right there!

A Yet Praise

"Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be in the vines; Though the labor of the Olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls - yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!"
Habakkuk 3:7-18

Oft times our praise is predicated on our possessions; we choose to praise God for His presents instead of His presence in our lives. The prophet Habakkuk records in his short journal, if you would, a moment in which it seemed as though his enemies, and ultimately the enemies of God, were prospering while he was seemingly being forsaken. We, too, have these moments and wonder if God has forgotten about us. But just as God did for His prophet, The LORD will grant you a vision to remind you of what He has done, is doing and will do in your life - as long as you stay connected to Him. The Most High God desires for us to have the faith to believe that regardless of how things look or feel, it is well and shall be well with our soul! God has not forgotten about you; He is keeping you and preserving you for a great future. We have to adopt a “yet praise” disposition; one where a praise is continuously in our mouths whether times are good or bad; happy or sad! Habakkuk decided he was going to praise God whether his enemies prospered or faltered; whether his money was right or tight; whether there was a feast or a famine; whether the land was fertile or futile! We should have a yet praise on our lips; giving God praise in good health or bad; whether employed, unemployed or underemployed; if we are single, in a relationship or "it's complicated"; if we have financial security or cash flow instability! You can praise The Most High Heavenly One while in your storm, coming out of your storm or while moving into your next storm; for He is still God! Wherever you find yourself on this Wonderful Wednesday, praise God anyway and begin to thank Him for being our God of salvation!

And your praise goes right there!

His Method for Our Madness

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:8-9

In order to get honey, a honey comb must be broken. In order to get fresh orange juice, oranges must be squeezed. In order to get wine, grapes must be crushed. Sometimes to get to a new state of being, an item must be broken, squeezed or crushed. Life takes us through moments, periods and seasons of time in which we are broken, squeezed and even crushed by circumstances and situations. However, these hard times are tools of God to get us to a new state of being. God sometimes uses the breaking of our pride to anoint us; the squeezing of our resources to humble us; and the crushing of our ego to focus us. Ultimately, He uses all the madness and mayhem of life's reality to prepare us for greater and our next level in Him. When you feel that the enemy is attacking you like never before, it very well may be God preparing you so He can give you more. When it appears nothing is going your way; it could be God clearing your life for the blessings that are on the way. Keep it moving through the misery, the melancholy moments, the mindless malarkey and the mind-blowing mess on this “March On Monday”; continuing to endure your hardships and heartaches like a good soldier. God truly has His method to the madness we face; using it all as preparation for a greater, stronger, wiser and better you!

And your praise goes right there!

Live

“I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of The Lord.”
Psalm 118:17

It was the famous poet and play-write William Shakespeare who had his lead character in the play MacBeth declare, “This Life, which has been the tomb of his virtue and his honor, is but a walking shadow; a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” The character MacBeth had indeed resigned his life to merely existing and not living. Many of us act out this same disposition on life’s daily stage; believing life has beaten and battered us so tgst to fight in is futile. So you try to mask your disappointment and disheartening with physical and emotional makeup; though you are outwardly smiling, on the inside you are falling apart. There are moments of hopelessness and helplessness that mount as you battle against known and unknown adversaries and spirits. Isolated and confused, you want to give in and give up as your current, on going struggle seems to have no purpose or potential to turn from chaotic to calm; and definitively not tumultuous to triumphant. However, the word of God declares that this is not your place of burial, destruction or ultimate demise. Beloved, you shall live and not die. You did not come this far to succumb to anxiety, fear nor depression; you shall live. It is your faith in what can be that outweighs the facts of what you currently see. Live in your healing while dealing with your hurt. Live in your truth while enduring the continuous slander and terrible lies. Live in your deliverance though trapped between a rock and a hard place. Live in your peace even as hell is breaking out all around you. Turn you worry into worship and live! Let your problems ignite your praise and live! Let me encourage you on today; you shall live and not die. The power of life and death is in the tongue; start speaking life over yourself, your family, your finances, your dreams, your job, your relationships, and your ministry. Liberate yourself on this Freedom Friday by declaring, “I shall live and not die!”

And your praise goes right there!

Believing Beyond Your Troubles

"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world"
John 16:33

All of us have been or are currently mired in situations that seem insurmountable. We face mountains of tests and trials that cause an increased personal pain level heightened by anxiety and perpetually mounting stress. If the truth be told and we are brutally honest with ourselves, there have been multiple occasions when we felt it’s far easier to throw in the proverbial towel than to continue to fight against all seemingly insurmountable odds. This is nothing new for children of The Most High God; for His word tells us we will have trouble and tribulation in this world. As a matter of fact, the Old Testament stalwart Job declares that “man born of woman is but for a few days and those days are full of trouble.” He did not said sprinkled with trouble, but he emphatically declared FULL of trouble. The good news is that Jesus The Christ has fulfilled a promise of hope by handling and overcoming trouble through His life, death, burial, and resurrection. Because He has overcome this world, we as joint heirs to this same power can overcome our situations and circumstances. We can have peace, in Him and by Him, to tackle our stressful jobs, rocky relationships, spiraling finances, challenges to our health, as well as fickle family and phony friends! We can look past the pain of our tests, the persecution of our trials and the provocation of our tribulations because Christ overcame “death, hell and the grave” as the old preacher would say. Beloved, learn to believe beyond what you see; choosing to trust God in what can be. Be thankful on this Thursday that where you currently are is not where you shall permanently be. Lupus will lose. Cancer shall be cancelled. Diabetes will be defeated. Abuse will be abolished. Debt will be deleted. Stress will be soothed. Storms will be silenced. Chaos will be calmed. Yes, victory and triumph is yours when you look beyond the trouble and look to the help of your salvation; fostering a belief in the better and greater that is surely on the horizon!

And your praise goes right there!
