For Robyn Nathan, Director of Early Childhood Learning, Beth Shalom is a place where families can feel at home and know they belong.
Much of that starts at AlefBet Preschool. Robyn loves getting to know each child and family and discovering what makes them unique. Alongside AlefBet’s teachers and staff, she works to create a place where children can build on their strengths, develop confidence, and grow into kind, caring menschen.
She especially enjoys welcoming families who are new to Atlanta. Helping them connect with Jewish life, make friends, and form relationships that can last long after preschool is one of the most rewarding parts of her work.
Robyn knows something about finding a new home herself. She grew up in South Africa, spent 30 years on the West Coast, and eventually made her way to Atlanta. Her husband is also originally from South Africa and was among the early wave of South Africans who settled in Atlanta in the 1970s. They are the proud parents of twins, one a doctor and the other working in IT. Outside of AlefBet, Robyn enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and spending time with her husband.
With AlefBet preparing to celebrate its 30th anniversary next year, Robyn is excited to build on the school’s history while continuing to help it grow. Her hope is simple: that every family finds a special home here and that every child knows they are known, loved, and encouraged to grow, bloom, and flourish.
