This year, as we gather to welcome Rosh Hashanah, we also mark the 25th anniversary of September 11—a day that forever changed our nation and continues to shape our collective memory.

Beginning a new year calls us to reflect not only on our own lives, but also on the moments that have defined us as a people. During our Erev Rosh Hashanah service, Rabbi K'vod will explore how the lessons of 9/11 can inform our understanding of resilience, faith, and where we find our true source of security as we enter 5787.

We invite you to begin the New Year with prayer, reflection, and community as we honor the past while looking forward with hope.

The Chai Culture Collective is heading to the Center for Puppetry Arts on Thursday, September 17 for an evening that blends live jazz, puppetry, and visual art into one unforgettable experience.

Featuring acclaimed jazz pianist Joe Alterman and the BlackCatTips puppetry troupe, this unique performance offers a chance to enjoy an evening of creativity, culture, and community with fellow Beth Shalom congregants.

What a wonderful day out with our Beth Shalom Daytrippers!

The group enjoyed an informative visit to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, followed by lunch together at Hudson Grille. We were also delighted to welcome some new faces to the group!

Next up: the Gold Museum in Dahlonega! More details coming soon.

Before welcoming students back this week, our Alefbet Preschool team spent last week preparing for a wonderful year ahead.

From creating warm, welcoming classrooms to completing First Aid training and three hours of social-emotional learning, every part of staff training was focused on one goal: making sure our students have a safe, nurturing, and engaging place to learn and grow.

We also took time to strengthen our own community by making kosher pizza together as a team-building activity—a fun reminder that great schools are built not only on preparation, but on strong relationships.

It was an incredibly productive week, and now our classrooms are once again filled with the energy, curiosity, and smiles of a brand-new school year. We can't wait to see all that our Alefbet Preschool students accomplish this year!

This past Sunday, we began preparing for the High Holy Days—not by talking about logistics, but by slowing down, studying together, and asking deeper questions. Thank you to everyone who joined Rabbi K'vod for our Spiritual Preparation class.

Through Jewish text, thoughtful discussion, and shared reflection, we explored what it means to approach Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur with greater awareness, intention, and openness.

The High Holy Days invite us to do more than simply attend services—they invite us to engage in the meaningful work of reflection, growth, and renewal. Sunday's conversation was a powerful first step on that journey, and we're grateful to everyone who helped make it so engaging.

What a wonderful way to kick off a new year of Beth Shalom Sisterhood!

Sisterhood Paint Party brought together a sold-out crowd for an afternoon of creativity, connection, and plenty of fun. From blank canvases to colorful works of art, it was especially great to see so many friends—old and new—creating together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the opening event of the Sisterhood season such a success. We can’t wait to see what the year ahead brings!

What a wonderful evening under the stars!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Summer Concert at the Heritage Amphitheatre. It was a beautiful night filled with great music, delicious food trucks, picnic blankets, lawn chairs, and plenty of time to relax and connect with friends from the Beth Shalom community.

Whether you came for the Radio 80s Band, enjoyed dinner from the food trucks, or simply spent time catching up with old and new friends, we loved seeing so many familiar faces enjoying a summer evening together.

A special thank you to everyone who helped organize the event and to all who came out to make it such a fun and memorable night.

We can’t wait to see you at our next Beth Shalom gathering!
