At our Juneteenth Health & Wellness Kickoff Experience, Dr. Mathis shared his powerful personal journey after surviving one of the deadliest types of heart attacks. His message was clear: heart disease is often preventable, and small changes in exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle can save lives.

Yesterday was a beautiful reminder of what happens when community, wellness, and culture come together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Juneteenth Kickoff Experience: Health & Wellness Edition at the Promise Center Southwest II. We shared resources, conversations, music, food, heart health education, and plenty of inspiration.

What an incredible day at the Juneteenth Kickoff Experience: Health & Wellness Edition! ❤️🖤💚

Today, our community came together at the Promise Center SW II on MLK Jr. Drive in West Atlanta for a powerful day of education, wellness, connection, and celebration.

From heart health screenings and valuable community resources to the screening of the HeartBeat docuseries, the day was filled with meaningful conversations about health equity and taking charge of our well-being.

A special thank you to Dr. Garner and the entire Promise Center SW II team for their partnership and support in making this event possible. We are especially grateful to Dr. Ric Mathis, creator of the HeartBeat docuseries, for joining us and sharing his important work with our community.

Thank you to DJ Hurt for keeping the energy high throughout the day, and to Laware Catering for providing a delicious and healthy lunch for our guests. We also extend our appreciation to all of the service providers, volunteers, and attendees who helped make this event such a success.

From preparation to service, yesterday was a reminder of what community looks like in action. 🌱🤝 Huge thank you to every volunteer, partner, and neighbor who showed up to help transform the IMAN F.R.E.S.H. Today, we came together to build more than a garden, we built community. 🌱

With the help of students from SAVE Institute, support from our team at IMAN Atlanta, and sponsorship from LISC, we made major progress on the IMAN F.R.E.S.H. Community Garden.

From filling planter beds and spreading mulch to planting seeds and transforming the space together, this service day was powered by teamwork, care, and community investment.
