Welcome to Summer in the City worship! During the summer months we take a less formal approach to worship, and look for the spiritual lessons we can learn from fun movies and tv-shows that the whole family can enjoy together. This June, join Atlanta First UMC for The Gospel in “Up” – a four-week worship series inspired by Disney/Pixar’s Up and the Genesis stories of Abraham and Sarah. Together we’ll explore grief, hope, courage, calling, friendship, and the surprising ways God lifts us higher.
Lead Pastor Rev. Jasmine R. Smothers will continue the series this Sunday by looking at the scripture account of how God promised Abraham and Sarah a son in their old age, prompting Sarah to laugh, from Genesis 18:1-15;21:1-7. Her sermon is entitled “Laughing at the Promise.” Worship begins at 10:00 a.m.
