Happy Holy Saturday!

This passion week, we are diving into the theme of Love Poured Out, and what that looks like for us as believers. Over the next few days, we’ll look at different attributes of love as described in the Bible and how they all point towards the ultimate display of love shown by Jesus on the cross.

We end the week in 1 Corinthians 13:7: “Love always protects. Love always trusts. Love always hopes, always perseveres.”

Holy Saturday might be the most solemn day in the history of the world; the day that the Son of God spent in the tomb, dead, bearing the sins of all generations - separated from God. And yet on this day we wait not with grief or sorrow, but with hope.

Love is not contingent on the circumstances of the now: on the contrary, love is a promise that though now might be hard, it will remain steadfast through it all. And so on Holy Saturday, we wait with hope. Hope, because on the following day Jesus conquers death and comes back to life. Hope, because he has washed our sins clean. Hope, because we know that he has already returned, and that he will do so again.

Happy Good Friday!

This passion week, we are diving into the theme of Love Poured Out, and what that looks like for us as believers. Over the next few days, we’ll look at different attributes of love as described in the Bible and how they all point towards the ultimate display of love shown by Jesus on the cross.

As we reflect on Christ’s sacrifice today, we’ll look at 1 John 3:6: “By this we know love; that He laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.”

The greatest example of love that God has given us is the love shown by his son Jesus Christ on the cross: that he would give up his own perfect life, take on the sins of all humanity, and separate himself from God. To love means to put others before yourself. To love is to sacrifice. As we meditate on the meaning and the weight of Good Friday, we know that the crucifixion is not a cause for sadness or fear but rather one for joy - for this is how we know that God truly loves us.

Happy Maundy Thursday!

This passion week, we are diving into the theme of Love Poured Out, and what that looks like for us as believers. Over the next few days, we’ll look at different attributes of love as described in the Bible and how they all point towards the ultimate display of love shown by Jesus on the cross.

For Thursday we’re in 1 Corinthians 13:6: “Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.”

To love means to rejoice in truth, and what better truth do we have than the Word given to us by God himself? If we love God, we should be meditating on the word that he has given us - not just to know him better, but also because it is within the scriptures that God shows us the depths of his love. And it is by knowing God’s love that we can then know how to love others - not by our own truths, but by the truth - His truth.

Happy Holy Wednesday!

This passion week, we are diving into the theme of Love Poured Out, and what that looks like for us as believers. Over the next few days, we’ll look at different attributes of love as described in the Bible and how they all point towards the ultimate display of love shown by Jesus on the cross.

For Wednesday we’ll be in 1 Corinthians 13:5: “Love does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”

God does not love us because we do the right things, and he does not reject us because of our wrongdoings. His love is unconditional, independent of the book of sins we inevitably rack up over our lives. Yet it is so easy for us to forget that, and begin judging people for the wrongs they do to us - like the ungrateful servant that Jesus warns us about. It is only by looking at God’s boundless love for us, that he would choose to save a world of people who continually reject him, that we can know how we ourselves can show that same unconditional love to others.

At the start of each year, we like to take time as a church to intentionally fast and spend time in prayer to re-center ourselves on Christ as we step into a new year. It is up to you how else you would like to fast throughout these 2 weeks, but this is what we are doing together as a church!

With the delay in SNAP benefits and the future of the benefits being uncertain, many people in our community have been struggling, especially in Clarkston. Many have had to dip into their rent and utility funds to pay for food. We are working with our partners Clarkston Cares and City Hope Community to provide monetary assistance and pantry staples to families in Clarkston who need extra support.

Journey will match up to $5,000 in donations to Clarkston Cares, which supports families with food, utility, and rent assistance. Please donate directly to Clarkston Cares with a memo that says “Journey Church.”  Use the link in the Linktree/QR code or www.Clarkstoncaresfund.org to minimize multiple fees. Please forward your receipt or email the finance team at [email protected] for matching. Any donation from Nov 2, onward when Ellie visited will also be matched, so please forward those receipts as well!

We will work with City Hope Community to distribute the foods listed here to families. Please share with your own communities and networks to broaden our reach! You could make it a group effort with your family or journey group as well.

On Sunday, November 23, drop off your donations at Peachtree Baptist Church’s fellowship hall. Then relocate your car to the Marcus Autism Center, so we can keep the attached parking lot clear for families.

We have an amazing opportunity to bless those in our community in this season of giving!

Labor Day Picnic recap!
It was awesome seeing everyone who was able to come out ☺️ What an amazing community 🌳 We hope you all had a ton of fun and were able to meet someone new!
Big thanks to all our serve teams who were able to make this possible (events, worship, welcoming, creative, hospitality, transportation, education, etc), you’re a part of why we’re able to put on these cool events🥰
If you missed it, we’re so sad you weren’t able to attend. Don’t worry though, we’ll have plenty more opportunities to come fellowship with our community.😌

Thank you to everyone who put in so much time and work these last few months to make tonight’s Night Market Party happen! This was a huge group effort to support our short term missions teams, and it was such a fun time of fellowship 😀

Google photos are up in our Photo Albums highlight. If you missed today, keep an eye out for another Night Market Party next year 👀
