Central Congregational United Church of Christ

Central Congregational United Church of Christ Central Congregational UCC is an open & affirming, justice and peace-seeking, progressive congregation in Atlanta, GA. One License: A-740151 | CCLI #2641497

We’d love the opportunity to meet you on your faith journey! Central has been a liberal, progressive Christian church in Atlanta since 1882. As part of the United Church of Christ, we look back to the teachings of Jesus for guidance as we seek to continue to foster the emergence of God’s realm of justice and peace. We are an Open and Affirming church with a Safe Church practice. Members at Central

join with each other as we simultaneously make our journeys as individuals and as a community. Each person is responsible to make their faith “their own”. We recognize that the Love of God calls us to accomplish some things that we cannot do alone. We are a Christian community where “Heart and Mind meet.” To those efforts, we strive to add our Hand as well.

Rev. Thomas' Sermon Sandbox:

A lot goes into preparing a sermon! Unfortunately, not everything we read or study makes it into what we share on Sunday mornings.

On Sunday, Rev. Thomas mentioned the Kansas City Statement of Faith(1913) and the work of Catholic theologian Elizabeth Johnson.

You can find the KC Statement of Faith on the UCC Website: https://bit.ly/KCStatementofFaith .

And you can learn more about Johnson's Quest For the Living God through her publisher: https://bit.ly/quest-for-the-living-god .

"This Sunday, we’ll encounter the Trinity and sit with the many names of God. I’m often curious what it is that we intend to do when we name God. Perhaps you’ll think about this a bit too over the next few days."
