In rural Cochise County, Arizona, Chiricahua Community Health Centers, Inc. are caring for more than the health needs of their patients.

Along with doctors, nurses and other medical personnel, Chiricahua has a staff of Care Coordinators, who connect their primarily low-income and uninsured patients with solutions to the barriers that prevent them from receiving care, generating better health outcomes throughout the community.

As Chiricahua was searching for ways to fill a funding gap caused by the loss of federal grants last year, Global Ministries stepped in. A grant through our This Moment Matters initiative is ensuring they can continue to care for the growing uninsured and underserved population in Cochise County.

Since October 2024, a sunflower, edible mushrooms, and pig farming initiative implemented in the Burundi United Methodist Annual Conference has served as a lifeline for communities facing drought and difficult times in the conference's Giharo and Kinyinya districts.

Funded with a grant from Global Ministries, this Yambasu Agriculture Initiative (YAI) project is transforming lives and livelihoods by boosting household incomes and enabling families to pay school fees, buy food, and meet daily needs.

Additionally, the project is helping the Burundi Conference become more financially self-sustainable, fulfilling one of the key objectives of the YAI in United Methodist conferences across the African continent.

Hear from Serena Lee, a member of the California-Pacific Conference of the United Methodist Church , as she shares how the EarthKeepers training in 2025 helped her learn more about the important connection between social justice and creation care work.

This year, Global Ministries is celebrating the 10th anniversary of our EarthKeepers program! Over 450 United Methodists like Serena have been commissioned to lead creation care work in their communities across the U.S.

Want to become an EarthKeeper? Applications will open on September 9 for the next training — March 11-14 in New Orleans, LA. Tap the link in the comments to learn more.

Generosity flows both ways in the United Methodist connection.

In 2025, General Board of Global Ministries and the General Board of Higher Education & Ministry invested $1.72 million in ministries across Western North Carolina — including $1 million toward UMCOR disaster recovery here at home, scholarships for 47 students, and support for local congregations feeding neighbors and welcoming immigrants.

At the same time, WNCC churches and individuals gave more than $333,000 through the Advance to support missionaries and mission work around the world.

That's what it means to be part of a connectional church.
