Memorial Day belongs to the American service members who laid down their lives in our country's defense. To the families who carry the weight of that loss every day, not just today. To the children who grew up with a folded flag instead of a parent.

We pause. We remember. We give thanks for the freedom their sacrifice secured and for the God who walks with the grieving.

A TERRITORY-WIDE CALL TO PRAYER: 24/7, FOR A FULL YEAR

Salvationists across the Southern Territory are invited into something we've never done together quite like this — a full year of unbroken prayer. 365 days. 24 hours a day. Seven days a week. Every hour covered.

The 24/7 Prayer initiative begins at Commissioning and continues until the Centennial Celebration on June 5, 2027.

This is a call to arms — and a call to our knees. We're not praying toward a single moment. We're praying for the territory God is shaping for the next 100 years: our officers and soldiers, the families we serve, our communities, our advisory members, and the neighbors who don't yet know Christ.

Here's how it comes together. Territorial leadership has divided the calendar so each corps or center can take responsibility for roughly a day — 24 hours — of prayer. A prayer flag will travel division to division, leading the movement visually as it's passed across the territory.

"We want to make sure that every hour of every day is covered," says Major Anne Westmoreland, "because there's power in knowing that we are praying around the clock, in knowing that we are being prayed for, that we are praying for one another."

A more solid launch is coming at Commissioning, with a dedicated prayer room and a new Centennial website full of resources. This is your early notice — so when the year begins, we're already on our knees.
