We live and die by our calendars, but what if the most sacred thing you can do today is let someone derail your plans?

Jesus modeled a radically different approach to connection by being profoundly interruptible. It turns out that paying attention is the purest form of love.

If you are exhausted by a faith built on performance and long for real, grounded compassion, press play on this message.

Join us as we explore how embracing life's unexpected interruptions can completely transform the way we care for the people right in front of us.

We are all obsessed with staying on schedule, but what if the most ...

This Sunday is Pentecost, which means it’s also our parish Feast Day at Holy Comforter.
The board in our sanctuary has a great reminder for the weekend: “The Spirit is given for the common good.” We live that out best when we actually show up, connect, and break bread together.
Worship starts at 10:30 AM, and we are having lunch right after the service. Feel free to wear something red if you have it. Come for the service, stay for the food, and enjoy the company. See you there.

On a friend's worst day, your job isn't to fix everything. Your job is to remind them of the inherent goodness they still carry.

Calling forth the good in each other creates the kind of safety, kindness, and respect our world desperately needs. It is a profound love that can't be legislated or taken away by anyone else.

Hold onto that hope today. Then, give it away.

We talk a lot about "love" in the church, but what does it actually look like in the real world?

Far from a concept meant to make you feel "warm and cozy", Jesus demonstrated a love that requires us to get our hands dirty. Set during his final hours with the disciples—kneeling on a wet floor after washing their feet —Jesus gave us a clear, urgent mandate on how to care for one another. In this message, Rev. Matt talks about the true meaning of the Greek word Paraclete (someone who comes alongside) and explore why genuine Christian faith demands that we step into the messiness of the world.

From advocating for housing and healthcare to standing with the marginalized, real love is grounded in dignity and justice. If the theology you’ve been taught tells you otherwise, it’s time to rethink what it means to follow Christ.

It’s easy to let the things thrown at us, like rejection, harsh words, and closed doors, define how we see ourselves. But there is a massive difference between the stones that wound us and the Rock that holds us up.

“You are not defined by what has been thrown at you. You are being held by something a whole lot stronger.”

When you look at the story of Stephen in the book of Acts, he was literally being broken by stones, yet he was already standing on a completely different foundation. If you’re feeling battered by the things being thrown your way lately, remember that God is a foundation that doesn’t move, doesn’t turn away, and doesn’t reject you.

It stings when you put in the work and nobody even says thank you.

We all want to be seen, and we all naturally crave that "seat of honor" to prove that our efforts actually mattered. It’s so easy to get caught up in the world's comparison game, where the only way to win is if someone else loses.

But the Gospel gives us permission to drop the act. We don't have to play that game anymore. True honor isn't about where you sit; it's about how we serve each other.

Swipe through for a quick thought from Wednesday night's sermon, and make sure to catch the video on the last slide.

There is a massive difference between a God who removes your struggles and a Shepherd who walks right into them with you. Instead of guaranteeing a life without suffering or fear, Psalm 23 promises presence in the middle of the mess. Even when anxiety tries to steal your focus, there is a table of true rest prepared right in front of you. Take comfort in knowing that God’s goodness isn’t just casually wandering behind you, it is actively chasing you down. Swipe through for a grounded reminder of what this actually offers a deeply tired soul.
