Your Name is Written Down
John 8:3-7 (KJV) 3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
Preachers have always said we dont know what Jesus wrote in the dirt the day the pharisees challenged him with an asukterpus woman. However, I wonder if any of them made thia connection. In Jerimiah its said that God is the living watervand will write the names of those who reject him in the earth, aka sand. In John 7 He tells the Samaritan woman that He is the living water. Then in John 8 that same Jesus (living water) wrote something unknown on the ground (earth) and the pharisees left. Dont forget that in Matthew 23 Jesus compared these same men to tombs full of dead bones.
So I feel like all of this means something simple. Where will your name be written? In the ground below, or the Lambs Book of Life above? You can have all the religion in the world but do you have a relationship with Jesus?
Jeremiah 17:13 (KJV) 13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.
John 7:37-38 (KJV) 37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
Matthew 23:27-28 (KJV) 27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. 28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Revelation 21:27 (KJV) 27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
