You know the saying, "prevention is better than cure," well it's the same as obedience is better than sacrifice.

When we step outside of alignment there are always consequences that we have to deal with, when in the beginning we should’ve just listened to what God told us.

I’ve learned some tough lessons about being disobedient, having to sacrifice, and dealing with certain things that could have been avoided.

And honestly, I would choose obedience over sacrifice any day but I've also learned that sometimes sacrificing is part of being obedient.

“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. - 1 Samuel 15:22 (NIV)

Seeking validation and approval from others is connected to the spirit of rejection. The spirit of rejection tells us that we're not good enough and that we need to constantly prove ourselves.

In a world where social media has shaped our behaviors, many of us have developed a habit of oversharing. We feel the need to share every little detail of our lives, but what is the real reason behind that? Is it that we really want to feel connected to others or do we want to feel validated? And when we do feel validated, what does it mean? What significance does it have in our lives?

There's nothing wrong with wanting to feel appreciated by those around you but it becomes a problem when we seek approval from people instead of our Creator. It becomes a problem when we base our identity on things that will only make us accepted by others but do not align with God.

I'm a retiring people-pleaser and I realized that it doesn't matter how people feel or what they think about me. It is not my job to live up to their expectations. I always remember the saying, "people will talk about you when you're doing bad and they will talk about you when you're doing good", so it really doesn't matter. Our ultimate goal should be to live our lives in the way that God has called us to.

So what does faith really look like? On the surface, it looks like watching from the sidelines while everyone else is playing on the field. It looks like being the only person that did not get an invite. It looks like stagnation but behind the scenes, you’re loading because God is working!

The Bible tells us that faith is hope in the things unseen. To me, that means not knowing the outcome but still trusting God because I believe in him. It means patiently waiting on God even when it feels like he doesn't see me. It means God's will and not mine. Faith is complete trust and surrender!
