Seeing powerful messages like this painted across our city always reminds us of the heartbeat of our own community. Since we have some fresh faces on our socials, we wanted to take a second to give a quick reminder of what we’re all about.

The Collective is a progressive, queer-affirming, justice-centered church plant right here in Atlanta. We are a community built for spiritual refugees. A place where you can connect with God and each other through authentic relationships and intentional service.

At The Collective, we don’t just TALK about justice. We strive to LIVE it.

We believe that true faith means showing up, speaking out, and building a world where everyone can thrive. We seek to build a different kind of church; one where your liberation and the liberation of our neighbors is central to everything we teach and practice.

Our core message is simple: No one belongs here more than you.

Come as you are. We really mean it. (Mural Artists: & )

Did your childhood church experience rely on terrifying you into salvation?

If you grew up in the church, conversations about heaven and hell were likely centered around fear, control, and emotional manipulation. Often, the goal wasn’t your liberation—it was making sure you avoided eternal torment.

But is fear really God’s final word?

This summer, we’re taking a hard, fresh look at one of the most misunderstood parts of the Christian faith. In our new four-part series, Heaven, Hell, & The Lies We’ve Been Sold, we are going to dig deep and re-evaluate the narratives we were handed.

If you’re ready to do the work of unlearning bad theology and leaning into Christ’s promise of restoration, this series is for you. After all, if God is truly about love, then the end of the story should actually be good news.

Just taking a moment to highlight some of the work that we support. Most people think church is about a Sunday performace. We think it’s about Monday through Saturday too. Emergency rent, power bills, 2,500 meals a year — because loving your neighbor isn’t just a saying.

Join the Gwinnett County Craftivists this Sunday at 9am in Suwanee. We will be making buttons, pins, & patches you can wear at community events to show support to our neighbors.

Ever feel like the version of faith you were handed was less about love and more about an ultimatum?

A lot of us grew up hearing the exact same pitch: make the right choice or face eternal fire and brimstone. It’s a fear-based framework designed to keep people in line, but it completely contradicts a God of radical, unconditional love. Turning the gospel into a threat just doesn’t sit right.

If that kind of theology always felt unsettling to you, you aren’t the only one.

This summer, we are unpacking the messaging we’ve been sold about the afterlife. Join us at The Collective starting Sunday, June 7 for a new four-part sermon series: Heaven, Hell, & The Lies We’ve Been Sold.

We are going to look at what the text actually says and focus on building a faith centered on abundance instead of anxiety.

Decay is not your destiny.

In a culture that is quick to write people off, we look to a framework built on second chances. Being part of a faith community means recognizing that our individual well-being is deeply connected to our neighbors.

A blessing is not meant to stop with the person who receives it. When we experience grace, peace, or a fresh start, the natural next step is to extend that same compassion to the people around us.

We are called to be a place of renewal for one another.

Have you ever felt like a single mistake (or a series of them) ruined your chances at a good future? You are not alone.

We often treat financial ruin, addiction, or hitting rock bottom as a permanent dead end. Our culture tells us that once you fall behind, you stay behind. But what if the blueprint for rebuilding your life has been hiding in plain sight in one of the Bible’s least-read books?

This past Sunday we looked at the radical, counter-cultural vision of Deuteronomy 15 and explored what it actually means to participate in God's economy. An economy built entirely on second chances and collective liberation.

Have you ever felt like a single mistake—or a series of them—ruined...

My best friend lost everything to addiction. He went to prison, lost his career, and ruined his finances.

A lot of the world writes you off at that point. We are told that our worst mistakes are permanent dead ends.

But today he is seven years sober. He is a homeowner and an ordained pastor. He even started a spiritual community just for people in recovery. He used his deepest wounds to help heal others.

I shared his story with our church because it shows exactly how God works. The world expects perfection and keeps a record of our wrongs, but God operates entirely on second chances. Your lowest moment does not have to be the end of your story.
