We interrupt this “Thanksgiving” to remind you that your Ancestors need and want your attention. As you eat and fellowship with your family today, do not forget to give your Ancestors a plate of food and to thank them for opening the way for you and those that came after you. WE GIVE THANKS FOR THEM.

We hope to celebrate with you at the 4th Annual Egungun Festival this weekend.

On Tuesday, we completed the first portion of our rituals to Egungun. Our Ancestors have given us a message that we will have better relationships (Ire Aya) as a result of this work. At a time when many people are anxious, worried and depressed, the blessings of good relationships is important.

There are two Egungun coming out on Saturday afternoon. One, whose name translates to “the ones that met wealth at home” and the other whose name translates to “the ones that came to party”. So come prepared to have a good time and to meet your blessings and wealth when you return to your home. Come prepared to fellowship and connect so that we may reconnect and stay connected with family and community. Come prepared to learn. Come prepared to give and to receive.

It is our ancestors that give us power and authority over our life. The sacred Odu Ifa Oturupon Meji says:

When Oyepolu grew up
He did not know all the rites of his family
His life became unsettled
He sought a wife to marry but found none
And he did not have peace in his own home
He therefore added two cowries to three
And went to an Ifa priest to perform divination
He was told that it was because of the ancient rites of his family
Which he had forgotten
That he was in such confusion
He was told to go to the graves of his fathers
And ask his ancestors for power and authority
After he had done so
He started to enjoy his own life

Join Idinleke Atlanta as we celebrate the Spirit of the Ancestors and ask them for power and authority over our life, the life of our children, our families, our businesses and our community. Lecture and discussion on Friday, November 29th. Community Celebration and After Party on Saturday, November 30th.

May the Spirit of our individual and collective Ancestors bless us fully.

Ase.

The Idinleke Atlanta Family would like to thank everyone who attended and gave positive energy to the Inaugural Aje Olokun Festival from July 27 - July 30th in the United States Virgin Islands. It was truly a beautiful experience in community, prosperity, and the opportunity to go beyond the surface.

We give honor to all of our teachers, parents, and elders for all of their love and knowledge. A special note of gratitude to our Oluwo Baba Agbongbon Fakayode Faniyi and all of our Osogbo Family.

To our family in St. Croix who helped to make the entire festival a success, we are ever so grateful. May all that was put into our Spirits, our community, and our economy return 10,000 fold.

May the Orisa continue to guide the way to our collective abundance and liberation. May the Spirit of “the Big Conch Shell”, Aje Olokun, forever remind us of our inherent wealth and our connectedness as a revolutionary people.
