We interrupt this “Thanksgiving” to remind you that your Ancestors need and want your attention. As you eat and fellowship with your family today, do not forget to give your Ancestors a plate of food and to thank them for opening the way for you and those that came after you. WE GIVE THANKS FOR THEM.
We hope to celebrate with you at the 4th Annual Egungun Festival this weekend.
On Tuesday, we completed the first portion of our rituals to Egungun. Our Ancestors have given us a message that we will have better relationships (Ire Aya) as a result of this work. At a time when many people are anxious, worried and depressed, the blessings of good relationships is important.
There are two Egungun coming out on Saturday afternoon. One, whose name translates to “the ones that met wealth at home” and the other whose name translates to “the ones that came to party”. So come prepared to have a good time and to meet your blessings and wealth when you return to your home. Come prepared to fellowship and connect so that we may reconnect and stay connected with family and community. Come prepared to learn. Come prepared to give and to receive.
