Our altar is ready, our hearts are open.

🙏 We are so grateful to everyone who helped prepare this beautiful space for our Nyung Ne retreat during Saka Dawa, the holiest month in the Tibetan Buddhist calendar.

As we gather in devotion to Chenrezig/Avalokitesvara, the Buddha of Compassion, through fasting, prayer, and silence, may the merit of this practice bring peace, purification, and healing to all sentient beings everywhere.

Global Read
Engaged Compassion by Dr. Lobsang Tenzin Negi
Wednesday, May 20 @ 9:30 AM PDT

Through seven evidence-based steps, readers learn to transform their relationship with suffering, both their own and others’, into a source of resilience rather than exhaustion.

The Global Read is a monthly webinar series that hosts live discussions with authors whose work explores the theme of compassion.

Participants can engage directly with writers through Q&A sessions and are encouraged to form local dialogue groups to further the conversation.

To join, register for the Zoom event; all sign-ups will receive a recording of the session the following day. https://bit.ly/4u83KkJ

Suffering Is Not All
A brief teaching from Dr. Geshe Lobsang Tenzin Negi on the importance of self-compassion

"His Holiness the Dalai Lama once talked about being surprised the first time he learned that many people in the West experience something called “self-hatred.” It isn’t a concept that people grow up with in Tibetan culture. His Holiness understood doubt, confusion, and shame - but hatred toward oneself? That was new to him. But as he listened more closely, he came to understand what it meant: a deep and painful identification with one’s flaws, mistakes, or shortcomings. A belief that failure is not something we experience but something we are. This is where self-compassion becomes essential. We learn to treat ourselves with the same clarity and tenderness we would offer someone we love. We also recognize that our suffering is real, but it is not all of who we are."
