REFUSE TO BE SORROWFUL!
Daily Reading: Isaiah 53: 1-5
“Surely He has borne our grief, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.’’ V.4.
Sorrow is an arrow in the quiver of Satan through which he afflicts believers and removes their joy. He brings discouragement and hopelessness to people through so many challenges of life by making them believe that those problems cannot be solved. Satan as a matter of fact tries to turn a mole into a mountain but hear you the word of God in Isaiah 41:10 “Fear thou not, for I am with you; be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yea, I will help you; yea, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness,” What a word of encouragement!
Child of God, listen! Those challenges- poverty, childlessness, sickness, misfortune and disappointment will not last forever. Enough of the weeping, mourning, depression, bitterness, sadness, regret and feelings of despair for they are the characteristics of sorrow.
Do you know that you are not supposed to allow sorrow to overwhelm you? This is because Jesus Christ has paid for every challenge and He stated that “it is finished”. In our reading today, the bible states thus- “Jesus is despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief…Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows…” What an assurance!
Beloved, the debt that is paid once cannot be repeated. Jesus has paid for your sorrows! Arise from your negative feelings! Experience the joy and peace that He has bought for you. The God of comfort has provided comfort for the sorrowful, and promised eternal deliverance from sorrow. He does not want us to suffer in any way and hence He sent the Holy Spirit, the great comforter so that he will always abide in us. He will neither leave nor forsake us. The truth according to the word of God is that surely there is an end to every suffering. No suffering is everlasting and the expectations of the righteous shall never be cut off.
I stand as a prophet of the Lord to prophesy unto your life thus “It is well with you! The days of your mourning are over! Your sorrow is turned to joy! Receive you abundant blessings from the Lord in the name of Jesus!
PRAYER: Lift up your hands and begin to appreciate the Most High God! He is restoring unto you all the years that the cankerworm and the caterpillar have eaten up.
