The New England Conference of the UMC is holding its Annual Conference this week in Manchester, NH. This is a yearly event in which clergy and laity from all over New England come to together to worship and complete church business. This year SAUMC received the “One Matters” award. This award is given to a church whose membership expanded in the past year. David, lay leader, accepted the award on behalf of the congregation. Also pictured are Pastor Judy, District Superintendent Megan Stowe and Bishop Thomas Bickerton. All are welcome at our church!

Pastor Judy is retiring! On Friday evening, her two congregations (SAUMC and OUMC) gave her and Daniel, a grand retirement party. The event was held in the SAUMC Fellowship Hall. The hall was filled to capacity with congregants and community members. There was an abundance of food, a delightful music presentation and a presentation of a beautiful gift. All this was followed by Ice Cream sundaes.
Pastor Judy will be with us through June, but this was our opportunity to gather together and thank her for 10 years of pastoral service. We are thankful for her joyful worship services, her ability to create community and her daily emails. We offer our prayers and hopes for Pastor Judy and Daniel as they move into the next exciting chapter of their lives. Blessings to you both.

This past Sunday was Pentecost Sunday. As part of the service we welcomed new members. The church was full of the Holy Spirit!

Join us in prayer for those affected by the Ebola outbreak in Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and South Sudan.

With over 600 cases reported and over 200 suspected deaths so far, this strain of the virus, which has no vaccine, is rapidly spreading across a region already suffering from conflict and lack of healthcare access.

In response, Global Ministries' Global Health Unit is deploying an initial grant of $20,000 to the United Methodist East Congo Health Board to support critical frontline interventions in and around the 10 UMC health facilities in Ituri Province, DRC, including:
-Infection prevention and control, including the distribution of handwashing kits
-Provision of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe case management training for healthcare workers in the UMC health facilities
-Provision of essential medication to UMC health facilities in the region

Fun and Fascinators abounded at the Silver Tea hosted by the Congregational Church of Phillipston on Thursday. Women from the SA UMC and the OUMC filled two tables. Several other local churches were also represented. The group enjoyed appetizers, an array of tea sandwiches,delightful desserts and of course, tea! The tea party is a wonderful event that area folks look forward to each year. Thank you to the Congregational Church of Phillipston for holding this tea this lovely activity.

The Fellowship Hall at Orange UMC was filled on Sunday afternoon with folks who came to the Meet The Author event. The event was hosted by the South Athol and Orange United Methodist churches. Author Daniel Jones discussed his debut novel, THE WOUNDED HINGE. Daniel also read from his book and answered questions from the audience. The author signed books purchased at the event. Pastor Judy led the group in a blessing. The hall was beautifully decorated in colors reflecting the book’s cover. The participants enjoyed an assortment of cookies while chatting and waiting to have their book signed. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped to make this such an enjoyable event. Also thank you to everyone from both churches who helped with organizing, set up, decorating, cookies and clean up!

Our braised beef dinner was a great success! Thanks to everyone who attended the dinner or ordered a take out meal. Also we are thankful for the folks who planned, shopped, prepared, cooked, served the meal AND washed and dried the dishes.
Our next Community Meal is on June 20th, 2026. SWEDISH MEATBALLS and STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE. Be sure to make you reservation. See you then.
