Our hearts and prayers are with Lyle's family as we gather this Monday August 17 to celebrate and give thanks for his presence in our lives 🙏✝️🙏✝️

Lyle E. Peel, Jr., age 68, of Athens, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 13, 2026 under the tender care of Interim Hospice.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Christ United Church in Athens. Interment to follow at the Athens Public Cemetery. Rev. Teri Hanson will officiate. Friends are welcome to greet the family from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16 and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Lyle was born on February 12, 1958, the son of Lyle and Arba (Steward) Peel, Sr. in Pontiac, MI. He graduated from high school in Howell, MI in 1976. Lyle became the shop manager at Van Der Geest Dairy in 1981and also was a farmer. On November 2, 1996, he was united in marriage to Jacqueline Gray in Colby.

Lyle loved farming and his work. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Lyle had a generous heart and would do whatever he could for anyone in need. He also enjoyed talking with anyone and everyone. Most importantly, Lyle loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren.

Lyle is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Jackie; three children: Jonathon Peel of Colby, Lyle (Jamie) Peel III of Merrill and Gary Peel of Athens; two step-daughters: Trish (Jud) Brown of Strum and Kayla (KJ) Passehl of Stratford; five grandchildren: Kaydin Streit (fiancé, Dominik Harris) of Rome, Kierstin and Kinlee Passehl of Stratford, Coltan and Eastan Brown of Strum. He is further survived by five sisters: Barbara Richardson of MI, Beverly Mallak of Park Falls, Betty Hayden of FL, Joyce Johnson of Schofield and Carol Bensel of IL; one brother, Albert (Pam) Peel of Stratford; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

We hold in prayer and close to our hearts the family of Uncle Carl, may they be blessed by his presence among them, his love of life and adventurous personality, 🙏🙏🙏

Carl Robert Spiller, age 94, of Athens, WI, formerly of Park Falls, WI, and Henderson, NV, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, surrounded with the love of family and friends and the compassionate care of St. Croix Hospice.

A Celebratory Gathering will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Athenian Living in Athens, WI (716 Caroline St, Athens), with Military Honors provided by the Athens VFW Post #8527 and the Athens American Legion Post 4. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Carl was born on May 5, 1932, the son of Parker “Earl” and Kathryn (Vacula) Spiller in Park Falls, WI. He grew up and graduated from Fifield High School. Carl served in the US Army from 1953-55, stationed at Fort Riley, KS, and Fort Hood, TX.

Carl returned to Park Falls and owned Spillers Shell Service, specializing in small engines. He then continued his passion for boats in Nevada as a boat mechanic. Carl was a member of a boat racing team serving as the mechanic for Kevin (Anna) Taylor who he worked for at R & R Prop Shop in Henderson, NV.

Carl was united in marriage to Mary Lou Cox in 1981. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2023. He enjoyed square dancing, boat racing, spending time with family and friends and hanging out as one of the “kids” at family functions. Carl and Mary Lou often traveled from NV to WI for the annual Spiller Family Campout.

Carl is survived by two sisters: Mary (Doug) Vana of Foxboro, WI, and Elizabeth “Betsy” Lane of White Lake, WI; a sister-in-law, Dorothy “Dot” Spiller of Fifield; his special friend, Ellen Czech; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and numerous friends who became “family.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Lou; three sisters; Lillian (Stanley Andersen and Lealand Neeck) Neeck, Della (Fred Kaletka and Glenn Boyington) Boyington, an infant sister, Kathryn Marie Spiller; a brother, Richard Spiller; his ex-wife, Peg Weis; two brothers-in-law: Peter Berge and Vernon Lane.

The Spiller and Frank and Joy Redmann families would like to extend extraordinary love and appreciation to Athenian Living, St. Croix Hospice and the Athens Area Veterans.

Carl was known for his kindness, determination, and infectious laugh. Memorials are preferred to Athenian Living or the Athens Area Veterans.

Worship at 10:00am at 6th Street Park in Colby. Bring your chairs, your favorite mug and join us for outdoor worship. Come early for fellowship before worship.

Our joint worship will be at Christ United, I was notified that there are wires and trees down in the Athens Park and it is closed until all is cleaned up. We will gather at Christ United at 10:00a.m which is just up the road a mile or so past the Cenex station and the church is on the right side of the road. See ya all Sunday ✝️⛪️
