Often times in our fast-pace world we view rest as something unproductive and unfruitful. As Catholics, we have a duty to realize that rest is a necessity for a life centered towards Christ.

Rest reminds us that our worth does not depend on our actions or productivity. Rest shows us that our worth comes from who we are: sons and daughters of a loving Father. Our productivity or work does not determine our goodness. We can do nothing to earn our worth—it comes as a free gift from God. Therefore, rest is important because it gives us space to remember why we were made: to love, serve, and know God. During times of rest we can reflect on how God has been present to us and how we can respond more readily to Him.

This summer we are invited to take intentional time to sit in the presence of God and rest. Let us know in the comments how you plan to rest during the slower summer months.

As we settle into the summer months, we invite you all to pray for our students as they rest from their academic work! Below is a prayer for the summer months:

For more light in the day, we thank you,
For gentle mornings, we thank you,
For nighttime conversations, we thank you,
For friends and family, we thank you,
For gardens and all manner of creatures, we thank you.
Help us, Creator and lover of our souls.
Help us love this earth.
Help us dwell wholeheartedly in our lives this day.
Help us pray as we walk, work, play, rest, and create.
Amen.

Today is the 8th anniversary of Fr. Brian and Fr. Michael's priestly ordination! Their priesthood is a gift to us at the Catholic Center and we are grateful for their continued "yes" to God in their vocation. Help us celebrate by commenting your favorite memory with them!

Happy Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus! ❤️‍🔥

"From the Heart of Christ, man’s heart learns to know the genuine and unique meaning of his life and of his destiny, to understand the value of an authentically Christian life, to keep himself from certain perversions of the human heart, and to unite the filial love of God with love of neighbor." — Pope St. John Paul II

On this celebration today, let us reflect on Christ's immeasurable, unceasing love for us—a love that endured the most gruesome suffering to pay the price for all humanity's sins. This love pursues us each day, aching that we be entirely His, longing that we find refuge in Him.

Michael will also be available after the 8am and 10:30am Masses the following day, with light breakfast foods and chances to say goodbye. There will be a basket in the back of the Chapel if you would like to leave or write Fr. Michael a letter. Additionally, we have a scrapbook available in the center for members to sign and leave a note.
