EVERYTHING WE NEED IS HERE!

Have you ever noticed how much time we spend looking for someone who can fix the problems around us? We look to leaders, governments, policies, and other people to bring the change we desperately want to see. And while those things do matter, what if we’re missing something far greater?

In Mark 11, when Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds welcomed Him as King. Many, however, were looking for a king who would defeat their political enemies and change their circumstances. But little did they know that Jesus came to do something far greater. He was not the King they wanted, He was the King they all needed.

And He still is the King we all need today!

THE POWER OF SILENCE

Have you ever thought about the fact that in conversation, silence is not just the absence of words being spoken? It has a purpose. Sometimes it makes us listen. Sometimes it makes us wait. And sometimes it makes the next word(s) more powerful than we ever expected.

At the end of the Old Testament, God's people heard the last words of the prophet Malachi, and then the voices stopped. For about four hundred years, no new word came. But the silence was not the end of the story. When God finally spoke again, He did not send another message. He sent His Son.

“What Does God Really Want?”

This Sunday we’ll continue our journey through the scriptures and take a look at the three of the Minor Prophets: Joel, Amos, and Obadiah.

These three short books come from very different moments in the history of God’s people, but each one speaks into a real situation and asks us to think seriously about what God is really looking for from His people.

We’ll spend some time looking at the story and setting behind each book, and then consider what their message still has to say to us today.

If you were asked to draw a picture of love, what would it look like?

We would probably all draw hearts. Perhaps, we might make an attempt to draw a couple smiling and holding hands after fifty years of marriage. But maybe for you, it would be a parent staying up all night with a sick child. We all have an image in our minds of what real love looks like.

But what about a love that keeps showing up after being betrayed? A love that keeps giving after being ignored and forgotten. A love that pays a price it never had to pay, just to bring someone home.

That kind of love feels almost impossible to imagine, yet it's exactly the kind of love God shows us in an unforgettable Old Testament story, one that points us straight to one of the most familiar verses in all of Scripture. For God so loved the world.

This Sunday, we're tracing the life of the prophet Hosea and asking what it means that our God pursues us with a love we could never earn and don't deserve.

So, what's the plan?

Life has a way of throwing seasons at us we didn't sign up for. Waiting, uncertainty, wondering if things will ever change. Sound familiar?

Life has a way of wearing us down. It's full of disappointment, heartache, seasons where hope feels hard to hold onto. Centuries ago, God's people felt the same way.

Will the world always be this way?

Wars. Division. Broken relationships. Bad news. Heartache. Even our own failures remind us that something isn't right.

Deep down, we all long for a day when wrongs are made right, pain gives way to peace, and hope triumphs over despair. But where do we find confidence that a day like this is really coming?

This Sunday, we'll open the Book of Isaiah with the first of two sermons and uncover a message that has given God's people hope for centuries. It's a timely reminder that no matter how dark the present may seem, God is still working toward something far greater.
