We are sad to announce the passing of Evelyn Jeanette Armstrong at the NHC Healthcare in Athens, Tennessee at the age of 89 years old on February 7, 2024. Evelyn Jeanette Armstrong was born to the late Roxie Jane Moss Haley and Henry Haley on May 22nd,1934. She graduated from J.L. Cook High School in Athens, Tennessee in the year 1953. She worked as a Supervisor at General Motors in Grand Rapids Michigan for more than 25 years, and worked at Montgomery Wards in Grand Rapids, Michigan in the office. She worked at Quality Inn in Sweetwater Tennessee and Western Sizzler in Athens Tennessee both as a hostess.

Evelyn was always a diligent worker, who took pride in whatever job or position that she held. Evelyn was an avid church goer who attended St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church in Athens Tennessee. She held the position of Treasurer for a few years.

Evelyn had a great love of fashion, she had suits, shoes, and purses in every, color and style. Evelyn’s greatest love was for her son, Michael Alan Armstrong whom she cherished. Evelyn was precedent in death by her parents Roxie Jane Moss Haley and Father Henry Haley, son, Michael Alan Armstrong, and brother -in- law Charlie Roberts.

Her life will forever be cherished, by her sister Letha Roberts and niece, Michelle Benton (Anthony Benton), nephew Tommy Roberts and special cousin Mary L. Mack, with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Home Going services will be held Friday, February 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home – Athens, TN, with Rev. Roxianne S. Sherles officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at McMinn Memorial Gardens, Athens, TN.
