Engadi Ministries Intl.

Engadi Ministries Intl. The median age of Latin Americans is lower than in the US, thus the percentage of young people is higher in comparison with older people. There are many others.

The majority of these kids live in a non-Christian environment. Many grow up without a father figure present in the home. Reasons for family disintegration in Guatemala are many. Some more common ones are as follows: cycle of poverty, lingering effect of past civil war, high birth rate, rural to urban migration, natural disasters, and health issues such as disease and malnutrition. Every family ha

s its own story. The result is that children and youth often look outside the home for protection, identity, hope and a future. Formal education is often seen as less important than is “street” education. Gangs are seen to offer what a dysfunctional family can’t—identity, protection and hope. We all know that this is a false hope which often leads to imprisonment or death through violence. As followers of Christ we know that Scripture exhorts us to defend the rights of the poor and fatherless (Ps. 82:3, Deut. 10:18, James 1:27). Proverbs 24:11 takes it a step further and asks us to, “Rescue those who are being taken away to death, hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.” Zechariah 11:4, 7 take it even a step farther. It states, “Pasture the flock marked for slaughter…particularly the oppressed of the flock.”

Engadi Ministries is called to do just this—rescue and disciple those male youth who currently reside in the neighborhood called el Paraiso in Zone 18 of Guatemala City, Guatemala. A voluntary safe Christian refuge is being built in Zaragoza. Throughout their adolescent life, Christian mentoring is given as well as continual contact with the family. A supplemental Christian family structure is provided through house parents. While in Engadi’s healthy environment we hope the boys from troubling situations will become the Mighty Men of tomorrow that will transform Guatemala and the world from the inside out.

A day full of learning and good messages! Last Friday, June 12, we had a super blessed outing with Derek's boys. We went to visit the facilities of the National Civil@pncdeguatemala in Guatemala City. The young people not only learned a lot about the history of the institution, but also received very emotional and reflective talks for their lives. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the PNC for giving us such a warm welcome and for their valuable time. We continue adding experiences that transform! We form leaders with values.

Closing out an unforgettable week! Today, Thursday, we experienced our fourth and final day in a very special way. In the morning, we traded shovels for paintbrushes and went to paint School No. 455, enjoying a wonderful time working as a team. At the same time, another group visited a family in the community, having the beautiful privilege of listening to them and praying for them. In the afternoon, we wrapped things up beautifully with the kids, creating a very meaningful necklace, followed by a farewell filled with hugs and tears of gratitude. Eternal thanks to and for blessing Engedi and Paraíso 2, Zone 18 so much! This will always be your home.

We've reached the halfway point of the week and the pace hasn't slowed down! This Wednesday morning we went back to work, shoveling earth for the gabion wall, feeling each shovelful bring us closer to the goal. In the afternoon, the time with the kids was on another level: more laughter, more games, and a beautiful time connecting with the teams from and . What a blessing to see these bonds growing in Paraíso 2!

The second day at home was full of purpose! Today, Tuesday morning, we continue to sweat our shirts and work as a team to lower the soil to the gabion wall, moving forward with our home projects. But the afternoon was completely for the kids: we had a beautiful and super blessed time creating a very cute craft of little sheep and the shepherd. What a great day we shared today with the and teams in Paraíso 2!

We start our first day with everything! This Monday morning required all of our physical effort, working hard on the dirt strip and putting everything into the gabion wall. But the real reward came in the afternoon: the house was filled with music, praise, inspiring stories and lots of games. It was an afternoon of pure blessing where the kids from the community had the most fun with the and teams. What a great start to the week!

What a spectacular and blessed Sunday we lived yesterday! We opened the doors of our house for an incredible family festival with all the families of Paraíso 2, Zone 18. We had the great honor of receiving the visit of two incredible churches: and . Although the rain was present, human warmth, laughter and God's blessing filled every corner. And this is just beginning! They will be accompanying us throughout this week. Welcome!

It's time to say see you soon! Yesterday, Thursday, May 28, we lived the last day of this incredible day. We successfully closed the work projects in the morning, but the most valuable thing happened in the afternoon with the kids. Between games, laughter and deep moments of reflection, we realized the beautiful mark that this week left on everyone. Endless thanks to our brothers at WFBC for their dedication, their prayers and for blessing Engadi so much. This will always be your home!

We made it to day 3 and nothing is stopping us! This morning we completed the mission: we lowered the earth that we took out of the church yesterday directly towards the gabion wall. 100% teamwork! And in the afternoon, although the weather brought us rain, the atmosphere became spectacular. The laughter, games and coexistence with the boys and the WFBC group shone brighter than ever. What a blessed Wednesday!

Our second day was full of purpose! Yesterday, Tuesday morning, we got to work to support our brothers from the Pan y Vida Church, helping to reduce the land within their facilities [1]. In the afternoon, the house was filled with joy again with the children: creative crafts, dynamic games and a beautiful story from the Bible that reminded us of the love of God. What a blessing it is to share this week with WFBC
