The Silent Saturday

Jesus has been killed, taken down from the cross, wrapped up in linens, and placed in a tomb. The disciples flee and hide, worried that they may be the next to suffer the same fate. It's Saturday morning. The sun comes up and a new day has begun. But the Messiah is still dead. He's still in the grave. It's as if a thick darkness had settled in over the hearts of the disciples and the entire creation. Sunday is coming, yes. But the silence of Saturday had to be a tremendous weight for those followers of Jesus. Even today, some 2000 years later, we all have our Saturdays that we must deal with from time to time. Waiting on the Lord isn't for the weak. But it is what we are called to do.

"I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope." (Psalm 130:5)
